Have you met your authentic self? If so, are you embracing this being or are you trying to normalize yourself into a world of societal expectations? Do you feel comfortable in your own skin? There is a difference between self-identity and self-esteem and having one without the other or lacking both can make for an unhealthy life.
Mirror-mirror.org explains how these concepts differ, “Your sense of identity has to do with who you think you are and how you perceive yourself. It’s about how you define yourself. Self esteem is how you value yourself. It has to do with your sense of self-worth. Both affect your mental health, your behavior and how you relate to other people.”
Maybe you know someone or you yourself have lost a lot of weight. But, in the aftermath even though the outside looked great, you still felt insecure inside. And, this misalignment has been surprisingly turbulent. Someone who puts in the hard work to lose weight and believes this is what is needed to finally feel at ease with oneself, but then unfortunately discovers something is still missing with this new and improved skinnier person, can feel defeated.
We can spend a lot of time and money to make our physical images look perfect but if we still do not believe we are worthy or we do not engage in a world that lifts our spirits, life will feel unhealthy.
If you are denying your authentic self, the things that make you sincerely happy within, in order to try to fit into someone else’s perceived notion of you, your sense of identity is misrepresented. If you listen to a negative internal script (that voice playing inside of your head) or maybe another person in your life is condescending to you, you are cheating yourself from living your best life.
If you are unable to see a value to your life, it is time to fight for you! You are worthy of a life reflective of the best of you. This means engaging your passion, tapping into your talent and pushing to open doors that nurture your growth. Shed the negativity! We all feel insecure at times but it is only when we face our insecurities that we are able to push beyond our comfort zones and pursue greatness. We are empowered by our authentic selves. Anytime we feed negative energy we are making a self-sabotaging choice and this creates havoc. Do not get sidetracked with a perceived vision someone else has for you. Surface your true self to realize your purpose in life. Once you are able to embrace your authentic self, you will start to see how you fit into a world in desperate need of your contribution.
