A Texas woman who rescues dogs was contacted about a heartbreaking situation. 15 dogs in terrible physical condition, emaciated and covered in sarcoptic mange, were roaming free in an area where the neighbors are trying to kill them. Their skin has little fur and is rough and leathery. They are skin and bones. Cars driving by try to hit them.
A man whose mother lived in the house was begging for help. His mother died in the home. She had tried to help the dogs by feeding them. But neither she nor her son had the financial wherewithal to provide medical care, so now all the dogs have the same, very contagious, mange. Even the man was scratching because he, also, has it. The man does not have a car or a job and cannot afford to feed the dogs.
In the video, it’s apparent that the dogs are sweet. The man is doling out food and shooing away dogs from some dogs who are, not surprisingly, protective of their food. They had not eaten in days before Barbara Ross brought them food. They are all living in filth. They have no shelter. There are puppies starving.
Another dog in the backyard, on a chain, in heat, and a neighbors intact male pitbull standing close by. A dog in the street, unsociable, waiting for everyone to finish eating so that she could approach and have her share of kibbles. I walked over to her in the middle of the road, and she was so scared. Her body was leathered and the mites had taken quite a toll on her, too.
A car drove by slowly, and then made an attempt to run over one of the dogs.”
She continued on the YouCaring site (which is begging for donations, “I cannot imagine what the cost will be to help all 15 dogs. Even at $600 per dog, that is $9,000. And we know that is not going to be enough. It is a start, and we need to begin now.
Please ask your friends to help. These dogs need all the help they can get. We need caregivers or foster homes, but keep in mind they have sarcoptic mange, which is contagious. We will rid them of the mites in a few days and then the healing can begin.
I pray for FOSTERS and I pray for KENNELS….We have to keep these dogs out of contact with the dogs that are already here in my care.”
If you can help, please contact Barbara Ross at (936) 718-4865. Please donate what you can. All the dogs need sterilization, treatment for mange, food, and vaccinations. They are all likely heartworm positive, too. Please share this story so that the 15 dogs can be taken, cared for and given the medical treatment and food they desperately need.
