Elvis Duran feels fantastic after his 100-pound weight loss following bariatric gastric sleeve surgery. Duran decided to get weight loss surgery after Dr. Mehmet Oz told him he needed to do something about his life-threatening obesity.
“[Dr. Oz] told me, ‘If you have cancer in your body, you are going to do something about it,'” Duran told People. “[Oz said] Obesity is as bad as cancer. Why would you not treat that?’ “
Elvis, who has hosted his morning radio show on Z100 for more than 20 years, decided to get gastric sleeve surgery in December 2014. Duran said the weight loss surgery completely changed his life. Elvis, who had been overweight for much of his life, said he can no eat gigantic portions like he once did.
In gastric sleeve surgery, three-quarters of the stomach is removed to create a small sleeve-shaped stomach, about the size of a banana. As a result, you get full after three or four bites of food and can no longer eat huge portions.
Elvis insisted weight loss surgery is not the easy way out, but it certainly changed his life for the better. “You get full much quicker,” said Duran. “It’s good. The problem is my clothes. My *ss is saggy in the jeans now.”
Other celebrities who have lost dramatic amounts of weight after gastric sleeve surgery include comedian Lisa Lampanelli, who lost 107 pounds, and “MasterChef” star Graham Elliot, who lost 155 pounds, Celebrity Health & Fitness reported.
Magic Johnson’s Son EJ Lost 180 Pounds After Gastric Surgery
Reality TV star EJ Johnson, the son of NBA legend Magic Johnson, recently credited gastric sleeve surgery for his 180-pound weight loss. EJ, star of “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills,” said his life changed dramatically following his weight loss.
“The surgery was definitely the best thing that ever happened to me,” EJ said on “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills.” “I never thought I’d look this good, and that is the God’s honest truth.”
Johnson decided to get weight loss surgery after being unable to lose weight through diet and exercise. “Nothing was working, and I wanted to make a more permanent decision to get back on track,” said EJ, who said his dad, Magic Johnson, totally supports his decision.
The 6-foot-2 Johnson, who’s openly gay, says men react to him differently after his weight loss. “The attention I get from men now is completely different than before,” said EJ. “I definitely don’t have to work as hard.”
Johnson is looking forward to dating now that he looks better and is more confident. “Everybody wants to be wanted,” said EJ. “I’m ready to let someone in.
“Instead of a casual hookup. maybe a ‘friends with benefits’ [scenario] would be nice. You know, a guy to have fun with and some trips with — and have incredible sex with. That would be good!”
