Planet earth that we see and live on now, has always been with us since the beginning according to the Bible. Some biblical scholars and preachers have the notion that the Bible speaks of two Earths, and that there was a “gap” between the first Earth that was destroyed by a worldwide flood and a recreation of a new Earth after this flood. They use this Scripture : “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. and the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:1-2).
This belief is no where found in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. the first five verses of Genesis 1 tell us plainly that this was part of the “evening and the morning of the first day” of Creation (Genesis 1:5). Earth did not have a “gap” in time. It was not destroyed! God was actually starting His creative acts on Earth to make it inhabitable for biological life and His ultimate creation : man (Adam). Earth needed the water, light, atmosphere. and other things before God started to put animal life on this planet. Without these elements being made first, animal life would not exist.
Theistic evolutionists, gap theorists and others try to fit the long geological ages in between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. If these people are correct in their assumption and there was a first flood in Genesis 1:2, there theory would of drown. Because the Scripture points out that the Earth was without form and void. That means there was nothing but water there. No evidence of physical life or fossils was left behind. Plus the Scripture does not say there was created life on the Earth at this time. God would of surely told us that He created plants and animals before He destroyed them in a flood in Genesis 1:2. But God did not because the first three things He created in Genesis 1:1 was time, the heaven (universe) and the Earth that was in a primordial state.
The full reading of Genesis 1:1-5 shows us that it was a 24 hour day of evening and morning of the first day of Creation. Plus each of the Scriptures are connected with the conjunction “and” which means that they are all together. “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light : and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.”
Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh (I Timothy 3:16) never talked about two creations only one. “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female” (Mark 10:6). God was telling us about Adam and Eve he created in Genesis 1: 26-28). Plus He only talked about one Flood : Noah’s Flood (Matthew 24:37-39), (Luke 17:26-27).
To believe there was two Creations and and two Floods is adding to the Word of God and that is a wrong thing to do! Even though it sounds good on paper, it is not!
