Star Wars Battlefront seems to have some serious depth to the quantity and quality of modes that players will experience and today, EA revealed a brand-new mode called Supremacy. In this particular mode, gameplay will be wholly centered around five points that have been scattered throughout the map.
In order to win a match of Supremacy, players will need to capture all five points or at least a majority of them by the time the 10 minute time limit runs out. Supremacy begins with each of the two teams having control over two points with the fifth point being up for grabs at the center of the map.
EA reckons, “After this is determined, the control points need to be claimed in a set order. This means the action will be taking place on two control points at a time – one for each team.” Gameplay in this mode is said to be “all-out” action from start to finish. Star Wars Battlefront Lead Level Designer Dennis Brännvall talked about the new mode, Supremacy.
“When you spawn into Supremacy, you don’t have to move far to see a lot of friends – and enemies. You’re thrown into a massive frontline, where your screen is filled with adversaries: infantry, Heroes, Walkers, and starfighters. You can prepare for very heavy and focused Star Wars action,” Brännvall said.
Similar to the traditional Domination mode we see in other shooters, those who defend points in Supremacy will more than likely see a barrage of enemies thrown at them throughout the course of each round. Tactics and strategy will be important, no matter if you are on the assault or if you are on the defense.
Supremacy will feature nearly every vehicle in the mode, furthering the point of chaos and insanity taking place during any given round. Some of the biggest heroes and villains of Star Wars’ lore will join the battle, as Brännvall explained.
“Using a character like Darth Vader to secure control points is great, as he can take increased damage before going down. Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett are great for moving swiftly between attacking and defensive positions, and giving you the edge against opponents in battle,” Brännvall said.
Another element that will separate Supremacy from other modes within Star Wars Battlefront is the fact that maps are much larger and will feel familiar to fans of the Conquest game mode. Brännvall provided remarks on how Supremacy will deliver the excitement of a Battlefield game in Battlefront.
“Supremacy is a game mode that will excite fans of the Conquest mode from Battlefield. That said, we’ve made several tweaks to improve the formula. You will always spawn close to the action when you enter Supremacy, so you’ll never feel isolated from the fight. By focusing on one key point at a time, players not playing the objective and camping on a hill somewhere will be a rare sight,” Brännvall said.
EA and DICE are cruising toward the highly anticipated release date of Nov. 17 for Star Wars Battlefront. The game will be coming out then and will be available only on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
