Call it Romeo and Mewliet – but this is no tragedy; this is a fairy tale story of paw-crossed lovers with a “purrfect” ending. In a clever social media campaign that highlights the dual importance of spay/neuter and adoption, Purrfect Pals announced that a young homeless cat named “Mamacita” was abandoned after she became pregnant – and she needs help finding a home. Purrfect Pals wrote on its Facebook page on Sunday: “She believed him when he said he loved her, but when he found out that she was pregnant, he skipped town. 2-year-old Mamacita found herself alone and homeless with five babies to raise.”
While Mamacita found temporary shelter for her little family, that shelter was overcrowded. She was transferred to Purrfect Pals, where her family was placed in a loving foster home. Once her babies (Chalupa, Fajita, Nacho, Taco, and Tostada), had been placed into forever homes, it was time for Mamacita to find a home of her own and mend her broken heart.
Purrfect Pals wrote on its Facebook page: “Enter Mr. Bedroom Eyes, 5-year-old Oso Handsome who found his way to Purrfect Pals after attempts to find his family failed. A volunteer who worked with ferals had found him out on his own and recognized that although he was shy, he was definitely not feral.”
Mamacita and Oso Handsome instantly connected from across the adoption room. According to Purrfect Pals, it was a case of “love at first sight,” and Mamacita missed no opportunities to make a beeline for Oso’s cage whenever her cage was opened. The two have been like “starstruck, giggling teenagers” ever since they met.
This is a love story that’s still looking for its happily-ever-after: Oso and Mamacita are now searching for a home with room for two. They’re definitely not adding any kittens to their little family and would prefer a life unencumbered by child rearing. They’re both slightly shy and they bring out the best in each other – and comfort one another, as well.
Purrfect Pals wrote on its website: “After having that lousy baby daddy split on her when she got pregnant, it’s nice to know that Mamacita has found a nice boy at last! Though he can be shy initially, Oso loves attention! Once he gets to know you, he will roll over to beg for pets and wants to sit on your lap. He has a lot to say about his adventures and will tell you with adorable trills and meows.”
