Young ‘Duck Dynasty’ heartthrob John Luke Robertson is officially off the market. According to a US Weekly report dated Sun. June 28, Robertson married Mary Kate McEacharn yesterday.
“I had an amazing time!” John Luke told US in a statement. His new wife added: “It was one of the best days of my life! It was everything I hoped it would be and more.”
The happy couple said their I-Do’s at the Robertson family farm in West, Monroe, LA. More than 800 family and friends attended the outdoor nuptials. Mr. and Mrs. Robertson’s ceremony included an acoustic version of The Beatles “Here Comes the Sun,” played by a local band, along with “Sweet Caroline,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Stand by Me.” Wedding planner Erin Vowell dished that attendees enjoyed grilled chicken skewers with vegetables, mini tacos and hamburgers, barbecue shrimp and brisket sliders at the reception. For dessert, guests were able to indulge in a six tier white cake adorned with flowers and cronuts instead of a traditional groom’s cake.
“Mary Kate wanted it real fun, real casual, and she wanted flowers to be a big central point of it all,” wedding planner Bethany Sigrest adds.
Dad Willie Robertson was the one who officiated the ceremony. As ‘Duck Dynasty’ fans know: Willie can be a bit unpredictable at times. He surprised guests by inviting a mariachi band to perform before the wedding.
On earlier seasons of ‘Duck Dynasty,’ John Luke’s dating life was sometimes a showcased topic. It wasn’t long however, before Mary Kate, 19, became the leading lady in his life. He proposed on his 19th birthday in October 2014.
“I am so excited to marry my best friend,” he told US at the time. “I know my parents [Willie and Korie Robertson] married young as well, and they have always been examples of what ‘could be’ to me. Fast-forward 22 years and they are more in love than ever, and I hope Mary Kate and I are the same way in the years to come. God has truly blessed us,” John Luke told US at the time.
Though Mr. and Mrs. Robertson are young, they have quite a history together. The pair met in 2010 at a Christian summer camp, but they did not begin dating until March 2013.
“I had tried to date her before, and she kept turning me down! I just kept at it and she finally said yes!” Robertson joked to US following his engagement. “I just knew [she was the one].”
Though the two are just beginning newlywed life, they are about to embark on another exciting chapter: They will both be attending Liberty University in the fall. McEacharn stopped attending Louisiana Tech to plan the wedding. Now, DD viewers wonder if Sadie Robertson will follow suit and marry young.
The A&E show, which continues to air on Wednesday nights kicked off season 8 on June 24. Fans are hopeful that John Luke’s wedding will air on an upcoming episode. Based on the show’s style, chances are, viewers will probably get their wish.
