Nicola’s Books and the Michigan Theater have teamed up to present actress and author Drew Barrymore, on Wednesday, October 28th, at 7:30pm at the theater. Barrymore will read excerpts from Wildflower, her new memoir, which will be released the day prior; take part in an audience Q&A; and sign copies of her book. This is the only Michigan stop on her book tour.
Barrymore used the Michigan Theater in 2009 to screen her daily filming results of “Whip It,” which was also filmed in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area.
Tickets can be purchased in-person at Nicola’s Books or on Ticketmaster.com, and price points are available for $35 and $25, with limited Gold Circle seating at $50. All tickets will include a hardcover copy of Wildflower, and books will be available for pick-up the night of the show, at the Michigan Theater.
More from the press release:
Descended from Hollywood royalty and working as an actress before she could walk and talk, Barrymore has had much of her private life on display for the whole world to see. She is one of the rare public figures who have literally grown up before the public’s eyes. Now, at the age of 40, Barrymore has increasingly and deliberately withdrawn from the limelight. With two daughters and a growing business empire that includes Flower Films and Flower Beauty, she has a fresh perspective on life.
In the opening passage of her new book, Wildflower (Dutton; On sale: October 27, 2015), Ms. Barrymore tells readers “when I was writing and I shut my door, I would let the inspiration flow. For some reason I had to write this book. I have become more private every year, and yet these stories were beating on the door of my heart screaming ‘let me out.’”
The stories in Wildflower touch on her relationships with her notorious family members and some famous friends, to life changing moments and everyday normalcy. From her child star days to the woman she has blossomed into, Drew Barrymore’s stories in Wildflower will delight fans of all ages and especially those young of heart.
Are you a fan of Barrymore’s movies? If so, which is your favorite?
