What do birds of many different feathers, cats with no tails (a bobcat of course), box turtles, and an Otter have in common? It seems like a scene out of Jurassic Park. You can find all of these wild birds, reptiles and mammals at HAWKE (Humane Association of Wildlife Care and Education, Inc), a not for profit organization located in Elkton Florida. HAWKE is an organization that specializes in wildlife rehabilitation, rescue, and environmental education outreach. Melanie Cain-Stage is the curator and president of the organization. She has handled various birds of prey such as falcons, eagles, owls and a red-tailed hawk. Pretty impressive huh?

Wildlife is Important
All creatures are important. Each one has a unique role it plays in nature. Humans have taken so much from the habitat that serves as their home. The right thing to do is provide care and compassion when a wild critter becomes sick, injured or orphaned. HAWKE is an organization which serves that purpose in Florida. Let’s help them to continue to provide that care.
