Being single can be difficult.
With the Christmas season in full swing there are many people who are feeling depressed and lonely because they don’t have a significant other to share their time with. Just because a person just happened to be single they shouldn’t allow themselves to be overwhelmed by the holidays.
The holidays should be a time to celebrate and enjoy spending time with good friends and family. A time to reflect on being grateful for the things a person has and not what they don’t have, like a significant other. With the economy still in recovery if you are fortunate to have a full time job and you are making ends meet this is reason enough to be grateful. If you have a roof over your head and food in your cabinets this is another reason the be grateful. If a person really thinks about it, there is more to the holidays than being single.
There are many things a person can do to help others during the holidays. There are many families that are struggling. As a result there are many businesses that are taking can goods and other food donations to help them out. If you are out shopping there are representatives in front of big retailers from the Red Cross collecting donations. If you contact the local food bank in your area they would be more than happy to receive food or monetary donations. For those who would like to donate toys businesses like Sleep Train, Starbucks and Walgreens have toy bins that are just waiting to be filled with toys for those in need.
As the holidays come and go there will be many things that will occur. Don’t allow your focus to be on what you don’t have. Instead a person should focus their attention on making sure they turn what they see as a negative into something positive by helping those in need.
