What is true freedom? It would probably be more familiar to us to discuss what real freedom is not.
Planning a wedding? So you may go to a Pastor at a local church or your own Pastor if you belong to a church and discuss the details. Of course, he/she legally can’t do anything until you get government’s permission via a marriage license. In order to enter into holy matrimony, a spiritual union in the sight of God, you must first go to Cesar and pay him a fee. In most states, you also must literally give your local government a sample of your DNA (a blood test) because they are so concerned that you may not know your future spouse well enough or they have not been truthful enough to let you know whether they have any STD’s. Do you really think your government cares that much about you? While the battle rages regarding gay and lesbian couples’ rights, most have completely missed the boat on the fact that NOBODY in our nation has true freedom to marry, including heterosexual couples.
We were supposed to have a natural freedom as human beings to freely travel. In order to drive a vehicle, we did not used to have anything from government or insurance companies but the money to purchase a car or borrow someone’s vehicle. Slowly but surely, that freedom was unconstitutionally taken away because of our willingness to let it be taken away. Cars never used to have to be registered which entails paying a fee and being entered into a database. We never needed to prove to government that we knew how to drive, pay another fee, be tested, documented and now able to be tracked. There was no such thing as car insurance which amounts to nothing but decades of forcing the American people to buy a product from the insurance industry.
Yet again in this instance, the battle rages over Obamacare penalties through a forcing to buy a different insurance product. I love to hear people say, “They can’t force us to do that.” Excuse me, but where were you decades ago when we were forced and still to this day commonly accept having to purchase car insurance in order to supposedly partake in our natural human right to “freely” travel? There is no aspect about it that has been “free” in decades, in any meaning of the word “free”. Many of our senior citizens may remember the good ol’ days, but most of the rest of our population does not have a clue and because of their common ignorance will fight for even more restrictions being placed on driving by our government.
What about the freedom to protect your property and your families? Please see one of my previous articles on the ridiculousness of the battle over concealed carry permits that should not even be a lawful fight within our state legislatures or congress.
Do we have the freedom to feed our families? Try fishing without a license. Try hunting without a license. How about growing a garden in your front yard in many cities? What about since politicians have sold our good-paying jobs overseas, you work hard yet are on food stamps because you can no longer feed your family on the wages paid in America today? Because so many do not understand the dangers of not having real freedom, Wisconsin recently introduced a bill that food stamp recipients which includes many of our military families and millions of Americans that work more than one job, they should not be able to buy potatoes, beans, spices or ketchup now? Because so many have bought into ridiculous class warfare, that draconian and nonsensical legislation is being cheered by many and being proposed in other states as well. Really? Just wait for tomorrow, when you possibly are not allowed to buy what feeds your family. Yet the lawmakers proposing these insane government restrictions, take more money from the government than the food stamp recipients they are being cheered on to restrict. Why don’t we make it illegal for them to buy a new car with funds from their government pay checks? Do you even see where this insanity leads?
The law would restrict access to a whole range of commonplace ingredients. Some of the things that would be harder to buy for poor families who cook include “herbs, spices, or seasonings,” all nuts, red and yellow potatoes, smoothies, spaghetti sauce, “soups, salsas, ketchup,” sauerkraut, pickles, dried beans sold in bulk, and white or albacore tuna. (Cans of “light tuna” are allowed under the rules.)
The list goes on and on…….. Do we have true freedom to open-up a business? Even I can remember having a lemonade stand when I was a kid. Try doing that now in most cities and your CHILD may end-up in handcuffs!
NO, we as Americans in what started out as the freest nation on earth, don’t know what “freedom” even looks like or means.
Before you send another penny to your latest political hero, have him/her read this article and pledge to change all of these things and so many more not listed. If they don’t even realize we lost true freedom a very long time ago, they certainly will not be working on bringing freedom back to us if they get elected.
