Disney Store will launch all-new product collections and limited-edition sets as part of its merchandise showcase at this year’s D23 Expo 2015, including items for the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection; a Limited Edition Doll Collection from ABC Studios’ television series “Once Upon a Time;” Toy Story 20th Anniversary merchandise; and new Disney Tsum Tsum.
According to D23, new items featuring favorite Disney character will be released each day of D23 Expo 2015. Disney Store will also host opportunities that allow attendees to meet artists and designs responsible for the collections during the three-day event. Disney Store will also offer an official opening ceremony during which a special attendee will be chosen to “unlock imagination” alongside Disney characters. The opening ceremony takes place at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, the Expo’s first day.
The Disney Store shop will be located at the Disney Consumer Products Pavilion inside the event venue, and will occupy more than 3,000 square-feet of retail space. D23 Expo 2105, billed as “Disney’s ultimate fan event,” will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center between Aug. 14-16.
This year, the D23 Expo introduces StorePass. This new initiative aims to minimize wait time for shopping at Disney Store Mickey’s of Glendale or the Disney Dream Store. StorePass works somewhat like the Disney theme parks’ FASTPASS, providing a window of time in which to visit one of these shopping locations. A limited quantity of StorePass tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 14, and will be distributed while they last. The StorePass desk will be located adjacent to the StagePass distribution area in Hall A. For more information, visit D23 Expo 2015’s ‘Things to Know” section.
Note: StorePass return time windows take place between 12 – 5 p.m., so attendees who are planning on buying limited-edition merchandise are cautioned against relying on StorePass to acquire these items as collectibles often sell out early in the day.
Disney Store has released the following information about the highlights of the new collection to be unveiled at D23 Expo 2015.
Disney Fairytale Designer Collection: Disney Store’s newest series of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, collector’s dolls sold in pairs of heroes and villains, will be previewed at D23 Expo 2015. The collection of five sets of Limited Edition pairs is designed by Disney Store artists to evoke these famous fairy-tale duos. Each set comes with a Certificate of Authenticity in a limited edition of 6,000.
For the first time at a D23 Expo, attendees can pre-purchase the complete set of five Hero/Villain pairs before the general public pre-sale begins online on Monday, Sept.14. Following the D23 Expo 2015 preview, the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection doll sets will be released and available for purchase in stores and online starting Sept. 29, with a new pair released each week.
The Disney Fairytale Designer Collection line also includes apparel, mugs, journals, home décor and more. These items will be made available to the general public in stores and online on Sept. 14.
“Once Upon a Time”: Disney Store will introduce the “Once Upon a Time” (“OUAT”) Snow White and Evil Queen Doll Collection, another riff on its “heroes and villains” theme. The dolls are inspired by ABC Studio’s “Once Upon a Time” television show. Available exclusively at D23 Expo 2015, the “OUAT” Snow White and Evil Queen Doll Collection is limited-edition set of 300.
An autograph signing with Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White) and Lana Parrila (The Evil Queen) is a Disney Store exclusive opportunity for guests who purchase the doll set at the D23 Expo 2015. Goodwin and Parrilla will be available at the ABC booth on the D23 EXPO floor from 4 – 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15. The “Once Upon a Time” panel in Stage 23 will follow the autograph signing, and takes place from 6 – 7 p.m.
“Star Wars”: On Friday, Aug. 14, Disney Store will launch an exclusive collection of “Star Wars” items. The collection will include apparel, collectibles, and toys. Among the showcase items are articulated, die-cast action figures for the “Star Wars” Elite Series, representing characters from “Star Wars” Episodes I-VI. These action figures will be sold individually at Disney Store locations beginning later this year. D23 Expo 2015 attendees may purchase the full set, which includes D23 Expo-exclusive versions of R2-D2 and C-3PO.
Disney Store will also introduce “Star Wars” Legion Helmets at the Expo. This series of eight vinyl collectible helmets is inspired by the “Star Wars” Legion Helmet project, launched in early 2014. The project featured artists from across The Walt Disney Company who transformed 300 Stormtrooper helmets into art, the body of work as a whole showing artists’ unique visions and approaches.
“Toy Story” 20th Anniversary: To mark the 20th Anniversary of Disney∙Pixar’s “Toy Story,” Disney Store drew inspiration from the film’s archives to showcase the evolution of Buzz and Woody. The collection with toys, collectibles, apparel and more, will be released at the Disney Store shop at D23 Expo 2015 on Friday, Aug. 14.
Disney Tsum Tsum: A new collection of these stackable plush characters will be unveiled at D23 Expo, with one releasing each day in limited quantities in mini, medium and large sizes. In addition, limited-edition mini box series – exclusive to D23 Expo – will also be released along with each collection. A Mickey Mouse Tsum Tsum mini vinyl figure will be available, while supplies last, for $5 with any purchase.
Disney 3D Print Studio: Disney Store will launch its Disney 3D Print Studio at D23 Expo 2015. This merchandise experience features facial-scanning technology that enables fans the chance to personalize figures, including Marvel’s Iron Man, with their likenesses. The figures ordered at the three-day event will feature packaging unique to D23 Expo.
