“Dino Run DX” is now available on Steam. Pixeljam’s prehistoric multiplayer racing game has released an updated version of the colorful pixelated game on Steam that is available for Mac and PC. The indie developers have also created their very own crowdfunding platform that is designed to help bring more content for “Dino Run” to players later down the line.
The version of “Dino Run” available on Steam is an updated version of the original game. The original version of the game was a popular browser game with over 100 million online players. After a failed Kickstarter campaign for “Dino Run 2” the developers decided to update and improve on the original game instead of making a sequel.
“Dino Run” is set during the asteroid impact that will end the world as dinosaurs know it. You play as a lone raptor trying to outrun its doom and find a safe haven to survive this extinction event. The original game was released in 2007 and an updated version called “Dino Run SE” was released in 2011. Now the final evolution of the game is here as “Dino Run DX” and it will receive more updates via Pixeljam’s crowdfunding platform.
Pixeljam has also created their own crowdfunding platform in order to keep creating content and adding features to this new improved version of “Dino Run”. Their campaign is designed around “slow burn crowdfunding’ in which slow sustainable change will be made to their game as funding can be raised. This method of crowdfunding is meant to be transparent and preferable to other crowdfunding platforms which promise big products in a fixed-time-frame with all-or-nothing campaign funding.
