The Duggar family endures more negative publicity, but this time it isn’t from their immediate family members, but a cousin. While it may be good news that the aspiring country music artist Amy Duggar is planning to marry Dillon King, he may not have the squeaky-clean image that the strict Christian Duggar family prefers. Radar Online, August 11, 2015, reported that Dillon likes his share of alcohol. Apparently, he likes to drink and drive because he was arrested and charged on two separate occasions for DWI. Dillon, 27, was first arrested in 2011. He didn’t learn his lesson as police pulled him over again in 2013. Radar Online reports that jail time is often served on a second offense according to Arkansas law.
Amy and Dillon were engaged July 13 and they plan to exchange vows on September 6. The engagements pictures that the couple took were very different from normal engagement pictures. They had different scenes and frequently changed clothes for each set. the pictures ranged from a mud fight, where they were covered in mud, to casual clothes and cuddling on the grass, and finally, they changed to formal evening wear. The couple looks happy and in love. However, some bad news did hit them concerning their wedding. Dillon wanted the whole world to share in their excitement and life experience of a wedding. So, he tried to get TLC interested in televising the wedding. However, TLC was not interested and turned down his offer. Dillon wasn’t going to take that without a fight. He encouraged their fans to contact the network, by calling or sending emails, to change the producer’s minds.
Many fans did not share in their excitement of a televised wedding. In fact, many comments stated that they were only getting married so they could profit from TLC and have the wedding paid for too. She did manage to receive a free wedding gown, which also made fans irate. People expressed their outrage on the Duggars and their tactics on the Facebook page, Duggar Family News: Life is not all pickles and hairspray. One person commented, “That’s why they were getting married in the first place, to “share” it with fans and make money while doing it. Is there anything in their lives they won’t exploit for money?” Another posted, “And what skills do they have but holding out their hand for more money. With their entitled to my entitlement attitude they might go the welfare route.”
What do you think? Are they trying to make money because the Duggar family had a reality TV show and they feel entitled? Maybe they are just young kids in love and want to share the happiness with everyone? Post your thoughts below in the comment section.
