Summer may be winding down, but there’s no shortage of yoga events and celebrations this week.
Tuesday, August 18: Check out Sunrise Vinyasa Yoga in the Denver Botanic Gardens every Tuesday and Thursday morning with horticulturalist and yoga teacher Blake Burger. Walk-ins are welcome for this all-levels class. Don’t forget to bring your mat, towel and water.
Thursday, August 20: Enjoy an hour-long vinyasa class, followed by live violin music and your own picnic at Vinyasa, Violins and Vino with Blake Burger this evening at Denver Botanic Gardens. Bring your own wine or beer as well as your valid ID.
Friday, August 21: Rob Loud guides the vinyasa yoga practice with tunes from DJ Natana this evening at Yoga Pod Lodo’s Sweat, Heat & Beatz. Pema (Monica Leotta-Reagan) brings Yoga Flow with Music tonight and the third Friday of each month to Whole Yoga, uniquely matching music to a set of self-paced poses. Or spend your evening chanting and dancing with Tom Fuhrmann and friends at the monthly Maha Kirtan at the Mile Hi Church Community Center. Arrive by 6:30 p.m. to receive a oneness blessing before the Kirtan.
Saturday, August 22: The fourth annual Yogathon kicks off at the Dora Moore Elementary School field with a free early morning peace meditation. The Yogathon itself, 108 rounds of Sun Salutations to raise funds for children’s education in India, begins at 10:00 a.m. There’s also a Care for Children Concert / Kirtan this evening at the Althea Center.

The event starts with a talk on Emotional Wellness & the Power of Therapeutic Essential Oils with Samadhi Yoga & Meditation Owner Annie Freedom. Join Carrie for a psoas-releasing combination of Yin Yoga, yoga therapeutics and guided Reiki meditation.
Join yoga teacher and Reiki Master Jeremy Wolf for his weekend workshop, The Science of Prana – Enlivening the Practice of Yoga, at Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation. Explore the science of prana through the practice of pranayama, mantra, asana, bandhas and meditation. The workshop begins this afternoon with Shreya—Knowing What to Practice and continues this evening with Beneath the Surface – Mapping the Subtle Forces.
Sunday, August 23: Hanuman Presents: A Community Yoga Class Gathering with Stephen Uvalle at Boulder High School this morning. The proceeds from this donation-optional yoga class go to those recovering from the Nepal earthquake. Continue your support for Nepal this afternoon and evening with Project: Nepal at The Oriental Theater. The event includes donation-based yoga and belly dancing classes as well as live music, art, henna and a gong bath.
