Nolan: “Wounded, bleeding, there was no way Nolan could make it out on his own, so, Irisa hoisted him over her shoulders. His hot, human blood mingled with hers. She pulled the man she called father to safety, to safety, to Defiance.”
“The Broken Bough” is the June 19 episode of “Defiance.” Warning: this article does contain spoilers. Be sure to check out the slideshow for more quotes from the episode. “Defiance” airs Friday nights at 7 p.m. CT on Syfy.
This book where Irisa is the hero is the best thing about this season so far. It’s ridiculously amusing. Why hasn’t the author come up at all though? Surely, it says who wrote the book right on the cover, but Irisa hasn’t gone after the author or anything. Did I miss the author reveal or has it not happened yet? Maybe Irisa doesn’t care enough to pursue the author.
Datak and Stahma returned to Defiance with all of their lies and drama. Seeing the two of them follow someone else’s orders was really weird. The two of them are typically calling the shots. They don’t do much damage. Stahma set up a method of communication, and Datak took out the gun supply with super creepy looking bugs.
Rahm-Tak doesn’t immediately instill fear. Aside from the threat that he will one day murder everyone in Defiance, he hasn’t done much. He destroyed the weapons of Defiance, chain slapped Alak, and declared himself the butcher of Tulsa. Rahm-Tak is definitely someone to watch, but for now, he’s taking his time to get this done right.
Right now, Defiance has the immediate threat of the Omec. It’s not a secret that they are bad news and should be trusted with the upmost caution. There’s a nice balance in bad guys. The Omec are currently playing nice, while plotting for something in the future. Rahm-Tak is slowly plotting to make his big move. Who is the bigger concern for Defiance: the Omec or Rahm-Tak?
Nolan and Irisa run into Pilar and the little one, Bear. Pilar is dead? We can only hope. Her brand of crazy wore out its welcome ages ago. Since we are apparently wiping out all of the McCawley’s, she needed to go. There wasn’t anything entertaining about her. She’s crazy and untrustworthy. We got it. Do you think Pilar is really dead?
Nolan and Irisa bonding with Bear was amusing. Irisa demonstrated some maternal skills, which is a side that we haven’t seen from her. Meanwhile, Nolan sassing the baby was just all sorts of hilarious. This was some nice levity to an intense episode.
Finally, Nolan called Irisa out on how she can’t seem to kill anyone anymore. Shouldn’t Nolan have known better than to go the “buck up kiddo” route? Hopefully, Irisa will open up to someone about it. We can’t have any more of her just acting as if she is okay.
