It’s almost been two years since Danielle Bradbery won season four of NBC’s reality singing competition The Voice and she’s still riding high from the success of it all. The country singer is currently working on the follow up to her 2013 self-titled debut album and she tried out a new song, titled ‘Room For Two’ for her fans in Atlantic City, New Jersey on August 8.
During her set at the Superstar Theater at Resorts Casino, Bradbery asked the crowd, “Can I try some new stuff?” When they replied with cheers, she said, “I’ve been so excited to be able to do this, getting to write in two different places. I’ve been in Los Angeles and Nashville, trying to get it spot-on for you guys and for me. I’m so excited. It’s the second project, and … it’s coming out soon. I promise.”
With that response, Danielle started singing the heartbreaking mid-tempo song. Room for Two.” If there’s anyone nursing a hurting heart and pining after a former lover right now, this song’s for you.” The song starts with Danielle singing about a love that emerged after high school, and she confesses that love either develops two people together — or they lose sight of each other. And in the situation of the song (and perhaps the singer’s own experience), the latter occurred.
“She loves you ,And you love her, And I love you, And there’s nothing I can do ,‘Cause there’s only room for two,” Bradbery sings.
The 19-year old’s larger-than-life voice delves into its lower range in the tune’s verses, but the chorus is all about her robust pipes. With lyrics like, “It’s hard to be forgotten, By the one you can’t forget, And all that I remember, Is there’s a bullet in my chest,” Danielle investigates the knot of emotions that shows up when love is forgotten.
According to Rolling Stone Country, there are three songs that will potentially be on the new record, “Friend Zone,” “Mama Was a Liar” and “Room For Two”- which were all co-written with Mikal Blue, Johan Lindbrant and Shari Short. Bradbery debuted the first two songs earlier in the year, while opening a couple dates for Miranda Lambert. As of right now, it is not known if the sophomore album will make its debut this year being that Danielle is set to play an upcoming tour with Brett Eldredge and Thomas Rhett as part of the yearly CMT on Tour. Before this summer comes to an end, she’s set to play two additional shows including a shared gig with Chris Young on August 13 in Costa Mesa, California.
Check out the performance of “Room For Two” above. It’s such a beautiful song and hopefully Bradbery will have a studio version of it soon. Her voice never fails to impress with her high and low notes. Sing it girl!
