Everything about education system sounds great, but can we really turn words into action? Here at the WorkingDad classroom, we love the idea of the 2015 National Summit on Education Reform, but we’d really love to see changes. Safe to say we’ll be following the conference closely. Here are the details:
On October 22-23, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, 66th U.S. Secretary of State and board chair of the Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd), will host the 2015 National Summit on Education Reform. Now in its eighth year, the National Summit is ExcelinEd’s flagship initiative that convenes the best and brightest from across America and around the world to share strategies to improve the quality of education for all children. General registration for the 2015 marquee event to be held in Denver, Colorado, is now open.
“American classrooms contain the most diverse mix of students in our nation’s history, and each child must be given the ability to succeed if our nation is to compete and lead in the 21st century,” said Dr. Rice. “We must embrace and adapt to today’s realities with an education system that places children in effective learning environments that inspire, encourage, innovate and overcome inequality. We know we can achieve this. Stimulating change and spurring bold, meaningful reform is what the National Summit is all about.’’
Dr. Rice will open the summit with a morning keynote address on Thursday, Oct. 22. The remainder of the two-day event will feature general and strategy sessions with a range of national leaders, covering the latest topics and innovations in education with a focus on how to give students a high-quality education to prepare them for college or a career.
This annual event provides state policymakers and advocates the opportunity to learn about successful state-driven education reforms and together build solutions to shared challenges. Last year’s National Summit was attended by more than 900 education leaders from five countries and 46 states. Stay tuned for more announcements on the summit’s exciting agenda.
The 2015 National Summit on Education Reform will be held October 22-23 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center. For event details visit ExcelinEd.org/National-Summit.
