Conception – emerging artists, also known as Conception Events, is a New York City based group of creatives that bring together emerging artists of all genres, from all over the world and enable them to showcase their work in a very eclectic way. Recently, Conception announced they are hosting their latest event – The Conception Contemporary Art Show, which will be happening tonight, Wednesday, Aug. 19 at the trendy, M1-5 Lounge in Tribeca. If you are a lover of contemporary art, then this may be the event you’ll want to attend.
Based on Conception’s most recent press release, the Conception art shows have been touted as one of the ‘best recurring pop-ups worldwide’ – truly colorful and cultural events that bring art directly to the people.
Excerpts from Conception’s press release dated Aug. 13, 2015:
“Thirty artists will exhibit paintings, sculpture and photography. Also, Author Brian Alessandro will be launching his novel, ‘The Unmentionable Mann’ which will officially be released on Sept. 18, 2015. A literary/mainstream novel exploring the intersection of racism, homophobia, religion, conversion therapy, and classism through the lens of an inbred aristocratic family.
“The work of Ukrainian Artist Viktoriya Kostinenko will also be on display during the exhibit. Influenced heavily by the on-going conflict between her country of origin (Ukraine) and Russia, Kostinenko’s series of paintings titled ‘Elusive’ express the on-going volatility of both human nature and the earth.
“Exhibiting artist and US War Veteran, Edward Santos, was inspired to join the military having watched the twin towers fall on 9/11 from his Bronx home. Santos went on to serve several terms in both Iraq and Afghanistan, returning from combat with physical injuries and PTSD. Santos discovered a true gift for the arts and his photography has been since been exhibited in London, Paris and New York City and he continues to inspire his fellow servicemen.
” ‘What motivates us is our passion for the creative community that we have built and continue to build around us,’ commented Rachel Wilkins-Blum, co-founder of Conception. ‘We are always brainstorming after every event on how we can do something better and how we can improve the experience for the artists, musicians, filmmakers and writers that we represent.'”
The art show runs from 6-11:30 p.m. tonight and will be held at the M1-5 Lounge, 52 Walker Street, New York, N.Y. 10013
