Tomorrow is the deadline to sign up for the first class in the Henry Ford Centennial Library Summer 2015 Adult Computer Workshop Schedule.
The registration deadline on Friday is for the Computer Basics class, to be offered from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday on the first floor of the Henry Ford Centennial Library, 16301 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn. This May 30 class will be followed by another Computer Basics Class, which will be held from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday (Monday will be the deadline for signing up for this June 2 class).
No basic computer skills are required for this class on computer basics. The class is supposed to be good for beginners in using a computer, by getting students started with many basic features.
However, having basic computer skills is required for all the other summer workshops. Registration will start Tuesday (deadline is June 8) for the June 9 class on Internet Basics. Students will learn to explore websites, shop on-line and use browser tools.
The Introduction to Email class will be June 16 (registration required between June 9-15). Students will learn to create their own email take-home account, and begin emailing in class and beyond. However, the account can only be completed if the class participant has an a cell phone number.
The other 2-4 p.m. Tuesday classes will be Introduction to Microsoft Word (June 23), Intro to Microsoft Excel (June 30) and Working with Digital Pictures (July 7). Registration will begin on 9:30 a.m. Tuesday the previous week prior to class, and must be done no later than the day prior to class. The June 23 class will teach the basics of Word for business and/or personal use; the June 30 class will teach the basics of Excel spreadsheets; and the final class will teach the basics of editing, cropping and manipulating digital images.
The audience which shows up for these classes on the first floor of the Henry Ford Centennial Library are primarily intended to be people who have only recently started using computers, according to the library. All of the classes in the 2015 summer computer workshops have been held at the Henry Ford Centennial Library previously, and the library indicates the workshops have been popular, with most of the classes drawing many registrations.
