The college basketball Top 25 AP Poll updated their rankings on Monday afternoon. Once again, the No.1 Kentucky Wildcats remained on top, and there wasn’t much change within the Top 10.
The only newcomer to the group comes from the ACC. The No.10 Virginia Cavaliers moved up two spots. The Cavaliers are the third ACC team in the Top 10 this week. The No.7 Duke Blue Devils are the highest ranked, while the No.9 North Carolina Tarheels are held steady from last week. At the beginning of the season, the Tarheels were the No.1 team in the country, but their loss to Northern Iowa sent them tumbling down the rankings.
Overall, the ACC has six teams in the Top 25. The No.14 Syracuse Orange were the biggest movers from the prior week. Last week, the Orange weren’t even on the radar of the Top 25 AP Poll. After running through the Battle 4 Atlantis, the Orange seem like a team capable of competing in the ACC. They are joined by No.21 Miami Hurricanes, and No.24 Louisville Cardinals.
The No.2 Maryland Terrapins received four first-place votes, while the No.3 Michigan State Spartans earned the other two first-place votes. Both teams hail from the Big Ten, and are preparing for the Big Ten-ACC Challenge this week.
The Big 12 also has a trio of teams in the Top 10. The No.4 Kansas Jayhawks are followed by No.5 Iowa State Cyclones, and No.6 Oklahoma Sooners. Despite having a loss, the Jayhawks jumped over the undefeated Cyclones. The Sooners also passed the Blue Devils in the current Top 25 AP Poll.
Here’s the entire Top 25 AP Poll.
