The Executive Golf (ClubEG) indoor golf season is about to take players on a tour of some of the finest courses in the world.
“There are some folks that believe golf stops at the first sight of sleet and snow. The real deal is golf in Ottawa has become a year-round sport and we conduct four indoor leagues at the superb facilities of Golf-O-Max in the west end and Pine View Golf Course in the east end,” said Andy Rajhathy, vice president of ClubEG. “Both have golf simulators that are loaded with tack-sharp replicas of tracks such as Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, BethPage Black, Bay Hill, Quail Hollow and a whole lot more, including the recently opened Cabot Links in Cape Breton on the simulators at Pine View.”
The four leagues include the Monday Ladies League at Golf-O-Max in the evenings, the Champions League for seniors plays Tuesday mornings at Golf-O-Max, the Mixed Indoor League goes on Tuesday nights at Golf-O-Max and the Slammer Tour Match-Play League runs Sunday evenings at Golf-O-Max and Pine View.
The leagues are ideal for players who want to keep their swings shipshape over the winter while staying hooked up with friends and colleagues as they take their shots at winning prizes.
Players can sign up as a group or with a partner if they prefer to keep things more social and spend time with pals. Each Monday, players send e-mails to ClubEG with the names in the group that they’ve pre-arranged. If they don’t, ClubEG assigns players to a group loosely based on skill and variety. And each player will be designated as either social or competitive with groups being made up accordingly.
Indoor golf is as close to real golf as it gets. Players use their own clubs and balls and hit all shots into a video screen. Sensors determine where the ball lands.
“Indoor golf is a great social activity that keeps your swing in check over the winter, a great place to socialize with friends or business acquaintances and through our leagues the perfect opportunity to meet new golfers and friends,” Rajhathy said.
The Ladies League gets under way Nov. 30, the Champions League and Mixed League begin Dec. 1 and the Slammer Tour Match-Play League starts Dec. 6.
