Sunday night The Hudson Gardens and Event Center was once again packed as the country fans came from all over to hear the incredible talents of Clint Black. Not only is this man considered one of Country music’s brightest stars who is a prolific songwriter and singer, a talented drummer and can wail on the harmonica, but Clint Black is also an actor. He has made a cameo appearance in the movie “Maverick” as the Sweet-Faced Gambler and had a starring role in “Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack”. The movie had Clint playing Cadillac Jack and his wife Lisa Harman Black co-starring as Ponder Fever. The Hudson Gardens And Event Center brought the music legend to the outdoor stage and it was standing room only. And once again, Examiner was the exclusive media on site to cover the show.
Clint Black has been on the US Billboard Hot Country Singles chart more than 30 times. Out of those 30 times, he has been at the No.1 spot 22 times. Clint spoke about how his father had told him “You cannot write country songs and speak of country life as you are only a child.” It was with this motivation that Clint Black sat down and wrote. Mr. Black also taught himself the harmonica when he was about 13-years-old. A couple of years later, he taught himself the guitar. Today Clint Black is one of the best.
As the Examiner went through the crowd to speak with people to find out what their favorite Clint Black song is, we found comedian Bill Engvall who came to listen to his good friend Clint Black. Bill Engvall has a daughter and son-in-law that live not far from The Hudson Gardens And Event Center and was excited when his daughter called him and said Clint Black would be performing tonight. Bill told the Examiner his favorite song is “Nobody’s Home”. Mr. Engvall even opened the concert by performing about 10 minutes of comedy. And of course he included his signature phrase “Here’s your sign”!
We then found Sienna Overstreet who shared with us that her favorite son is “Killin’ Time”. Moving along we spoke with Steve Rogers and his song is “Gulf Of Mexico”. Next up is Mackenzie Eyster who has the favorite “No Time To Kill” and her friend Wendy Lovely picks “A Better Man”. The Examiner than found a longtime friend of Clint Blacks who remembers when they were in high school and sold newspapers door-to-door. She watched him grow into this great country artist and said she loves the song “Killin’ Time”. Last the Examiner spoke to two people who are consistently in the front row for every show for the past 10 seasons and Stevie Wing Seewald’s favorite is “State Of Mind” and her son Luke Hildebrandt has the favorite “Like The Rain”. So the crowd was diverse on their choice of favorites, which was great. It is always fun to get the crowd’s reaction and see why they came and which song their ears would really be tuned in to.
Up next at The Hudson Gardens And Event Center is Bret Michaels on Saturday, August 15th followed by another concert Sunday, August 16th with favorite Kenny Loggins. There are just a few tickets left for Bret Michaels and Kenny Loggins is another sell out. So come join all the fun and get ready to rock The Hudson Gardens and Event Center with another back-to-back weekend of amazing music.
