Family-friendly St. Charles County provides plenty of Christmas holiday cheer again this year. From tree lighting ceremonies to seasonal train exhibits to Christmas caroling, there are family activities for all adults and children. Following is an early list of Christmas holiday family activities for 2015. All events are free unless otherwise noted.
Nov. 18: O’Fallon Tree Lighting Ceremony in the rotunda of the city hall, 100 North Main St from 6-8pm. Christmas music, holiday games and crafts, and train rides (weather permitting) are part of the activities. The event is free but food donations are requested for a local food pantry. Nov. 21: Second Annual Family Event-Christmas Carnival is a fundraiser for All Paws Rescue Benefit. The fundraiser is sponsored by Have Bible Will Travel Church and will be at the church location at 6001 Highway 94 in Weldon Spring. The event is from 11am to 3pm and includes games, crafts, a country store, baked goods and refreshments. Photos with Santa or his live reindeer. For more information, click here.
Nov. 21: Dardenne Prairie/Salvation Army tree lighting ceremony will start at 6pm at the city hall. Activities include local school group music, crafts, and refreshments. Santa and his reindeer will be available for photos. Bring new, unwrapped toys for the Salvation Army to distribute to needy children in the county. Nov. 29 and Dec. 4: The St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre is the venue for A Tribute to Trans-Siberian Orchestra at 2pm on Nov. 29 and and 8pm on Dec. 4. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased here.
Dec. 4: The Meadows Shopping Center Annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 6:30pm in Lake Saint Louis. Green Tree Elementary students will provide Christmas carols. Hot chocolate, cookies, ice skating and Santa Claus are also part of the fun.
Dec 5: O’Fallon hosts a Candy Cane Hunt at the city’s Renaud Spirit Center (2650 Tri Sports Circle) from 9-10:30am. Cost for residents is $8; $10 for non-residents. Candy canes will be hidden around the recreation center and when all are collected there will be hot chocolate, Santa, holiday songs, and other activities inside. Dec. 6: The 100 voice St. Peters Choral Society presents its 25th Annual Christmas Concert at 2pm at Ft. Zumwalt South High School (8050 Mexico Rd.). Website information.
Dec. 8: O’Fallon’s Annual Celebration of Lights display kicks off with an Old-Fashioned Holiday Stroll–a walking tour of the display–from 6-9pm at Ft. Zumwalt Park (1000 Jessup Dr.). Cost is $3 for children 3 and older. Admission wristbands can be purchased in advance from Monday, Nov. 16 to Friday, Dec. 4 between 8:30am and 4:30pm at the city’s parks office, 400 Civic Park. Santa and fireworks (at 7:25pm) are part of the fun and vendors will be selling refreshments. Free shuttle buses will transport visitors to and from parking (also free) at First Baptist Church O’Fallon (just east of the park).
