As Christians are living in our modern world they could face various challenges to their Christian values and lifestyle that come from being bombarded by worldly values seen in television programs, in movies, magazines, advertisements, and in the teachings of ‘political correctness.’
In addition to being bombarded by those values, Christians could face being bombarded in the spiritual world by teachings of other religions or demonic deceptions which try to get Christians distracted away from following God’s principles of living found in the Bible and get Christians involved in either distortions of God’s teachings or some ungodly form of fleshly temptations which could hurt their spiritual life and relationship with God.
In order to overcome those challenges to their Christian values and lifestyle Christians need to follow the command of the Apostle Paul: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12: 2 NASB)
That means that instead of letting the worldly value system, the teachings of non-Christian religions, or demonic deceptions push Christians away from following God’s principles of living and into following non-Christian teachings or demonic deceptions; Christians are to have their mind and spiritual strength renewed every day as they read the Bible and see God’s principles for living, talk to God about their problems, and use the power of the Holy Spirit to wash away the contamination caused by the bombardment of worldly values, teachings of non-Christian religions or philosophies, and demonic deceptions.
Christians not only need to use the insight and power of the Holy Spirit to detect and wash away the contamination caused by the above problems, Christians also need to use the insight and power of the Holy Spirit to detect the contamination of worldly values, teachings of non-Christian religions, teachings of secular philosophers, and the teachings of ‘political correctness’ that try to get Christians to condone ideas or practices that God in the Bible calls sinful behavior or an abomination.
The more that Christians use the power of the Holy Spirit to live by God’s principles and reject the many challenges to their Christian values and lifestyle as they go through their daily activities; the more that they will become a brightly shining beacon of God’s spiritual light in the midst of our modern world that is full of many kinds of spiritual, moral, and intellectual darkness. As people living in those forms of darkness see that light, they may want to follow it into asking the Christian where that light comes from and have that person lead them into accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Then, they will become a member of God’s spiritual kingdom of light and be able to spread that light to other people living in darkness.
