Finding the right diet can be well planned or done by trial and error. It does not come as news to anyone that many people in the USA and Canada are overweight. Some people may develop ketosis, which is a condition, that occurs, when they body is not getting enough carbs. Signs of ketosis include, irritability, dry mouth, nausea, headaches, and more.
Researchers know one may lose weight with a high protein diet; that is why these diets are so popular; but, there are drawbacks as was previously stated. Eating too much fatty meats and dairy foods may lead to high cholesterol or worse still, a heart attack. A high protein diet without a sufficient amount of vegetables and grains can mean the body is lacking fiber and other important nutrients. A moderate protein diet relying on the intake of foods which help the body to function at it best is recommended.
How to choose the right high protein diet
There many high protein diets available; however, choosing the right one is key to a healthy body. Avoid the fat on meats. A skinless chicken or lean meat is healthier for you in the long run. Also remember to eat pork. Pork is much leaner than it used to be years ago. There is also fish. Fish is a food, which usually provides omega 3 fatty acids ; essential for good heart health.
Don’t forget your eggs for protein. Though they may raise your cholesterol level, if you eat just the egg whites there is less of a chance for that to happen.
Soy products are also high in protein and may help to lower your cholesterol. Soy products are made from plants and are not derived from animals.
Have you considered getting more beans into your diet? They are high in protein. They also provide fiber and help you to feel satisfied longer. A half a cup of beans gives you the same amount of protein as a three ounce steak.
Your diet should include calcium. Milk, cheese, and yogurt are recommended. These foods will give you the calcium and protein needed in your diet. Choosing the low calorie brands can keep the calories down and help you to lose weight.
As previously stated, a diet based solely on high proteins, may have some serious effects upon your general health. You need to include grains for your high protein diet, Many of the high protein diets limit grains. However, they are essential for your good health. Choosing whole grains is a better option to help with balancing a diet. Furthermore, they are healthier than white grains. In either case, do check the label to much sure they are not full of fat or sugar.
In addition, there are other food sources, which may provide the health benefits necessary when dieting. Don’t forget your fruit and vegetables. They are important for vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients.
The bottom line is that you need a diet that allows for protein, some carbohydrates, and other nutritious foods, in order to help keep you healthy. It would also be beneficial to ask that your dietitian or doctor help find the diet that is right for you.
