It was hard to believe that on an 75 degree evening here in So Cal we were about to enter an Ice Kingdom that would be 9 degrees! Chill at the Queen Mary is a great way to get in the Christmas holiday mood even if we live in a place where it rarely snows or even gets very cold. Joining some TV celebs at the “Blue Carpet” event we got to see the opening night festivities. Seeing a skydiving Santa, the tree lighting, meeting Mr and Mrs Claus, watching people ice skate and having a glass of wine in my sparkling light-up Chill glass helped get this “I’m missing Halloween, Scrooge” in a bit more of a mood for the upcoming holidays! Maybe it wasn’t cold outside, but it was sure cold inside!
Chill takes over the area next to the Queen Mary yearly, bringing tons of family and dating fun for all ages. Love to ice skate? Then check out the 6,500 sq. ft. outdoor skating rink. From there you can get you own private heated rink-side cabana or walk right up to the warm and cozy Scrooge and Marley Pub featuring a full bar and a caricature artist. Ice tubing more your style? All Chill tickets include access to Glacier Glide. Grab a tube and catch some thrills on the two-story 100′ 6-lane ice luge. You need it even colder? Then get your special (included) warm parka on and enter The Ice Kingdom. The Ice Kingdom is my favorite, even if it’s hard to stay in there very long, because of the temperature. 9 degrees is a bit of a surprise to the senses of this Cali native, but it is so beautiful, you have to go in and see it! Hand carved from over two million pounds of colored ice by amazing artisans, this years theme is the Dickens story of “A Christmas Carol”. Walking through the timeless Christmas tale carved into ice was truly spectacular! There are ice slides inside The Ice Kingdom as well and even an Ice Bar (21 and over only) where you can have a one-of-a kind vodka tasting experience!
Other things to enjoy: Gingerbread house making, candle making, paintball, Santa’s Swinging Sleigh ride, the Candy Lane bounce house, face painting, the hedge maze, musical and dancing stage shows and of course meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus! You ticket also includes same-day access to go on-board the Queen Mary to shop, look around or see a special screening of “The Polar Express” in their brand new 4D theater. Breakfast with Santa (extra charge) is a fun holiday buffet running from Nov. 28th -Dec 26th. Big parties are also available to book at Chill for kids and adults. What a great place for a December birthday party or work party! You can also set up a amazing engagement surprise for those wanting to pop the question in style. Watch the special holiday weather at the Queen Mary- Forecasts of bubble blizzards, fairy magic and snow flurries daily!
