If you’re familiar with Chicks Climbing, launched by five extremely solid, Grade-A mountain women that include Kitty Calhoun, Dawn Glanc, Angela Hawse, Elaina Arenz, and Karen Bockel, then you know that the ski ride program they’re launching for winter 2015-2016, Chicks Skiing (aka Chicks with Stix), is going to be one heck of an adventure. This new ‘Chick’s’ experience will include some sweet skiing and powder bliss.
There’s something about being around other women who share an interest in mountain adventures. Sure it’s fun to be around both male and female adventurists during clinics and other outdoor fun, but when you have a sole focus on a group of women who want to develop their skills that is being taught by women experts that want to dedicate their ample experience in teaching the skills, it becomes a one-of-a-kind experience which builds confidence and empowerment.
With the Chick’s Skiing program, participants will ski and ride in small groups and get top-notch instruction and guiding from IFMGA/AMGA ski guides with the highest of safety standards. This transformational experience helps women take a break from their everyday busy lifestyle and engage in something that will not only improve their skiing prowess, but it will also help build new and lasting friendships.
“After listening to the demand from our fans, followers and awesome Chick’s Climbing alumni, it was clear to us that we had to develop Chick’s Skiing, “ says Kitty Calhoun, one of the five guide/owners of Chicks Climbing and Chicks Skiing. “ Our mission is to empower and transform women through mountain sport, and including skiing and riding camps makes all the sense in the world.”
Four Chick’s Skiing programs are being offered, two of which are international, marking the first time Chick’s Climbing and Skiing programs will be offered outside of the United States. These include:
- Heli-Skiing in Telluride: Get a taste for beautiful untracked lines high above treeline
- Avalanche Education in Jackson: Learn about snow and backcountry travel
- Powder Skiing in Japan: Get in deep with snow, sushi and hot springs
- High Alpine Ski Tour in the Swiss Alps: Stunning peaks, glaciers and endless turns
“We’ve known this for many many years: Chicks love skiing powder. We can’t wait to share our passion for snow with our community,” said Angela Hawse, co-owner/guide for Chicks Climbing and Chicks Skiing.
If you ladies want a memorable, incredible experience that will enhance your skiing knowledge and surround you with a great environment, fun people and some fresh mountain adventure, think about checking out one of the Chick’s Skiing programs. It would definitely be one of those trips of a lifetime.
