Being the host of America’s longest running cooking show, Mary Ann Esposito has given generations of viewers the pleasure of having their own ‘Aunt Mary Ann’ teach them the easy-breezy style of her classic Italian way to cook. “Ciao, Italia!” is on many PBS stations nationwide and is celebrating its 25 years on the air.
Two years ago at the annual WineFest in the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, Conn., we were checking out the wonderful new food magazine, Northeast Flavor, and talking with its editor, Jean Kerr. Feeling a presence next to us, we turned and quickly recognized the famed chef, TV host and cookbook author, Mary Ann Esposito.
“Hi, Mary Ann,” we said. “Hello there, guys!” was Mary Ann’s immediate warm and enthusiastic reply. We blurted out “OMG, you’re just like a real person!” To which, without missing a beat, Mary Ann exclaimed “But I AM a real person!”
Greeting her many times since, we now feel, as her other loyal followers do, that she’s part of the family. We even ‘chat’ with her when she posts her latest recipes, tips and upcoming food shows and her hosted annual trip to Italy dates on her Facebook page. www.facebook.com/maryannesposito.
The congenial Mary Ann will be taking a break from her television studio kitchen to join her fans live at the Park Theater in Cranston Rhode Island for a 25th Anniversary Celebration of “Ciao Italia!” on Saturday evening, November 14th at 8 PM. The event will include a lively conversation with Mary Ann, her favorite moments and cooking tips, classic videos from the past 25 years of Ciao Italia and questions from the audience.
Mary Ann encourages her fans within travel distance of Cranston to buy tickets: “It’s going to be a lot of fun looking back on 25 years of cooking on Ciao Italia and sharing some memorable moments and maybe even a few cooking secrets with a live audience. It’s a unique chance for me to get out of a studio kitchen and be with our viewers and fans,” said the irrepressible Mary Ann.
Tickets for the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Ciao Italia with Mary Ann Esposito are on sale now at ParkTheatreRI.com or phone the box office at 401-467-7275. And here’s a tip – VIP ticket holders will have the opportunity for a meet and greet with Mary Ann.
