Though the official days of summer are limited, some the best food and wine festivals are yet to come to Chicago. Food and wine festivals are a great way to keep your tasting skills in check, but also allow you to try new foods and wines. I have visited some great food and wine festivals around the country, and they are always a great time! Not only do you eat and drink well, you can also interact with famous celebrity chefs at some of these events! Check out these upcoming events and book your tickets soon for some great food and wine times in the Windy City!
- Chicago Food and Wine Festival – August 28 – 30 – This event is hosts the crème de la crème of celebrity chefs, grand tastings, and individual events which are catered to the coolest food trends. From Ludo Lefebvre cooking up potatoes, to Top Chef Stephanie Izard’s new restaurant launch, there is some great info at this big Chicago event.
- Windy City Wine Festival – September 11 – 12 – I got a peak of this cool event last year in Millennium Park, and am excited to fully attend this year. The event takes place at the beautiful Buckingham Fountain, with views of the bean and the park, its a fantastic setting for a wine, beer, and food event. You can expect live music from local musicians, and food from top Chicago restaurants, along with 300+ wines to taste. And did I mention, you can get a ticket for a cool $35 in advance.
- Chicago Gourmet – September 25 – 27– Also in Millennium Park, this is a gourmet food lover’s dream event, hosted by Bon Appétit. It is a wonderful weekend of Chicago focused food and wine events, including a Chicago Gourmet Tastings, Grand Cru, and a really cool Rise and Shine Gourmet brunch (which includes yoga or a walk/run with a celebrity chef hosted brunch). Expect to see some of the best chefs (such as Rick Bayless) cooking up this event, and sommelier-picked wines to pair with!
- Wine Riot Chicago Fall 2015 – October 16 – 17 – One of my favorite/fun wine events is back in Chicago at the Great Hall at Union Station. You can expect a fun time with a DJ in the house, fun photo and instagram booths, food, favors and of course, lots and lots of wine (my favorite booth is the Bubbly Bar). Definitely worth checking out if you have or haven’t been before!
Hope this list inspires you to get your festival belly ready and sign up for one of these amazing events. What a wonderful way to gorge on Summer dishes and welcome Fall flavors as well (no hurry there of course). Bon Appétit.
