In Chattanooga, Tennessee, authorities have charged the owner of a pit bull with animal abuse after the man was witnessed repeatedly hitting his dog and subsequently picking the animal up by his fur and throwing it over a chain link fence, reports wdef.com.
On Tuesday, officers from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on the 3900 block of West Freedom Circle in Ooltewah after reports from neighbors about a dog having been abused. An officer arriving on the scene and spoke with an eyewitness who stated she observed John L Huyck, 25, jump over the backyard fence into a neighboring yard punching a pitbull several times. A Humane Society Animal Control officer had already been on the scene and witnessed the extreme cruelty as Huyck allegedly picked the dog up by his “fur and launched” the defenseless animal over the fence.
As the dog landed, he yelped in pain, but Huyck went to the dog and allegedly continued to punch it in his face. Huyck has been charged with animal cruelty and is scheduled to appear in court on October 19. There have not been any updates on the dog’s condition.
