The Gospel music industry is known to produce music to uplift, encourage and get a person out of their seat shouting, which is apart of their mission. Changing lives through music also has the task of revealing God’s truth. Charmaine is one of the upcoming artists using her platform to spread God’s truth in love to break bonds and misrepresentation of who a Christian is meant to be. May 27, Charmaine expressed how she made her way through church hurt to where she is today.
The Gospel is defined as “the good news.” Insert church organ music here. It seems as if pulpits are filled with messages of prosperity and the church aisles have become fashion show runways with the true mission of the church aborted or watered down. The new age Christians seem to be more engrossed in being entertained than living the Bible way.
Over the past 20 years, Charmaine has been friends with Kirk Franklin and has sung with him. Being groomed in the Gospel industry, through her association with Kirk, Charmaine still felt that she had to overcome some past church hurts. Through prayer and confronting those hurts, she gained strength and her vision refocused on her personal mission.
Charmaine uses her platform to deal with issues that affect the church today. Her style is a mixture of Gospel, R&B and Hip Hop. Her debut single “Preacher Man” is directed toward those who lead and see the need for change. Produced by Blac Elvis, who has created for some of the music industry’s elite (Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, K. Michelle, Ciara, etc.) and Co-Produced by her husband, Tarrio Broome.
The Christian’s life is not based off the narcissistic mantra “Do as I say and not as I do.” Those who claim to be Christians are governed by the principles laid out in the Bible. “Preacher Man” brings into question the common misinterpretations and misrepresentation of living as a Christian.
Church nowadays is divided up into $20, $50 and $100 tithing lines while lives are leaving the church house broke in pocket and spirit. “Preacher Man” shines a light on these types of topics causing listeners to think. Charmaine states that her delivery is all in love. She is concerned with the condition of today’s church. She believes that God has allowed her to encounter the church hurts in order to help others who may be facing similar situations.
Do not be mistaken, Charmaine is a lover of God and his people. Her mission is clear and her singing ministry absolute. Charmaine is determined to shake up radio and lives with her acoustic new single “Preacher Man” due for release June 1 via DaGospelTruth. Follow her on Instagram and Twitter for the latest updates.
