The Assassin’s Creed franchise has introduced us to some of the greatest historical figures of all-time and with this year’s upcoming game on the horizon, that trend isn’t changing. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is taking gamers to London this year and two notable figures that people will recognize are Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin.
We’ve seen historical figures like Leonardo da Vinci, George Washington, Niccolo Machiavelli and others in prior installments. In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, fans will have the chance to witness Darwin and Dickens in the midst of pursuits, which were partly responsible for what made them as influential as they are.
Part of the wonder of Assassin’s Creed is getting the opportunity to see these figures moving before us, as if we were having the chance to relive things that happened in their lives. We can’t teleport back in time, but Assassin’s Creed is the next best thing.
“I think you meet Dickens almost as soon as you’re in London (during Sequence 3). Then Darwin is in one of the following sequences. They are characters that Henry Green knows and knows they are important people. Historically, they’re obviously well-known and are interesting characters. Once you spend time with them, they’re really cool and fun to talk to.
“They do have a series of missions that follow themes of what those characters were interested in at the time. With Dickens writing stories, he comes up with some inventive threads for you to follow and things to investigate. Darwin is trying to defend his life’s work and his theories, and the player follows them, getting to know more about their paths,” Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Game Director Scott Phillips told atombash.com.
Each of these characters will be introduced at different points of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and from a first glance, they seem to be adding a different flavor to the range of personalities in Syndicate. Fans who pre-order the game will receive a few bonus missions starring these characters, though Dickens and Darwin will be in the full game for those who don’t pre-order.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be the second new-generation only iteration to launch for the PS4 and Xbox One, and it will be the first game since Assassin’s Creed II to not have multiplayer in it. Syndicate will release on Oct. 23.
