From the lost city of the Hohokam in Casa Grande, the MVD Ghostchasers workshop crew caravanned to yet a more modern day lost town site of Adamsville, or the lost City of Adamsville’s Cemetery. Adamsville was founded by Charles Adams in the 1870’s. At its peak, Adamsville had 400 inhabitants, stores, a flour mill, and water tanks. The town site was eventually deserted and the flooding waters of the Gila River washed away of what remained of Adamsville. The Cemetery is all that lingers with tombstones scattered across the graveyard dating back to 1877.
Once the group arrived, they showed their good intentions of visiting the cemetery by donning gloves and packing several trash bags with broken glass, bottles, and garbage other visitors had left behind. They did our best to add positive energy around the cemetery. At dusk, they began to fill the next several hours photographing the tombstones in this mysterious cemetery. They practiced grave dowsing using divining rods. Some tried their hand at recording EVP, while others say they received messages from beyond.
Several Masons have their grave markers erected directly on the 33rd parallel which the group found very interesting. The 33rd parallel north latitude runs through Arizona, nearer to absolute 33rd parallel in towns like Florence and Clifton. Neighboring places like Chandler, Ahwatukee and Maricopa all share the 33rd parallel. The Adamsville Cemetery is located the parallel and a medicine wheel comprised of stones is located in the center of the consecrated grounds. It appears from the way the graves are laid out, that the Masons buried in the cemetery were lining up along the parallel. The 33rd parallel has been associated with Freemasonry as symbolic latitude. Although there has always been a great deal of secrecy concerning its importance, the 33rd parallel been associated with places of extreme conflict and death.
A medicine wheel is usually located where the Earth’s energy is very strong. Because of the vortex energy, these places are of intense power and healing. Many visit the wheels to seek visions or communicate with the dead. We took turns standing in the center of the wheel to experience the healing powers. As you stand in the medicine wheel, face north and hold out your arms. You will feel the energy of the 33rd parallel run through both arms.
We all agreed due to the location—the 33rd parallel—this cemetery was very active with positive energy. Hopefully the site will be historically preserved and maintained for future visitors.
If you go:
On the south edge of the town of Florence is the junction of Highway 79 and 287. 3.5 miles from the junction, you will find a historical marker telling about Adamsville. Just past the marker, turn north on Adamsville Road and follow it for 2.8 miles. Just after the road curves to the right, watch for a driveway turning off to the left. It is difficult to see the A.O.U.W. cemetery from the road.
