There’s nothing like a theme party to celebrate a birthday, and when you’re 129 years old, the appropriate place is at your very own museum. Pasadena Museum of History once again puts on a grand party with the City of Pasadena to celebrate 129 years since incorporation with “Happy Birthday Pasadena – Forward Motion!” on June 28. Mayor Terry Tornek will cut the cake at 2:30 p.m.
The free event features cars, bicycles and other vehicles that were innovative for their time, whether 100 years ago or today. The exciting vehicles and displays are Thaddeus Lowe Jr’s 1920 Cadillac, 1957 Autoette electric car, 2015 Tesla electric car, Bike World – Past, Present, and Future featuring the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition, BikeSGV, PAA Cycling, and the JPL Bike Club, Athens Services “Mighty Mike” Trash Truck and recycling display, METRO display and miniature Metro Buses Pacific Red Car exhibit.
The companion exhibitions “When Johnny Came Marching West: How the Civil War Shaped Pasadena” and “Thaddeus Lowe: Chief Aeronaut of the Union Army” and the Finnish Folk Art Museum will also be open. Entertainment, family-friendly crafts, booths with fascinating displays and vendors will be around all day, including the Blair Viking Jazz Band , crafts workshop by Little Junebugs, a face painter and Mind Blowing Balloons.
Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
