Carrie Underwood showed off her toned legs in Daisy Duke cut-off shorts in the sexy music video for her track “Smoke Break.” Underwood has regained her slim pre-baby body in record time, saying her weight loss secrets are a vegan diet and cardio workouts.
Underwood dropped her new music video Aug. 25 on Facebook. In “Smoke Break,” Carrie sports knee-high boots, sexy short-shorts and a white tank top. While Underwood does not smoke, she said her song title was inspired by the cigarette breaks some people take during the workday.
“We were writing and kept taking breaks to go outside because we were getting a little stuck on a song we were working on,” Carrie explained on Facebook. “It was so beautiful outside, that we had a hard time focusing so we decided to write a song about taking breaks! ‘Smoke Break’ seemed like a great title, so we ran with it!”
Underwood said anyone can relate to the song, whether they smoke or not, because it underscores how important it is to take a breather in the middle of a long day or tough task.
“The song is just kind of one of those story songs that I feel like everybody can relate to, about how life is so hectic and it’s so nice if and when you actually get to step away for a second,” said Carrie. “And we all need that time to ourselves to take a break.”
Some fans have criticized Carrie for glamorizing smoking with her new song, but she said “Smoke Break” is not about cigarettes. “Taking breaks here and there to go do something for yourself is important,” said Underwood. “Just five minutes every once in a while can be a major help!”
Vegan Diet And Intense Exercise Spurred Weight Loss
Underwood has been chronicling her weight loss and workouts on Instagram, posting makeup-free selfies after rigorous exercise sessions. Underwood, who gave birth in February, has lost all the baby weight in a few short months and looks as slim and fit as ever.
Underwood credited a vegan diet and intense workouts for her rapid post-baby weight loss, Celebrity Health & Fitness reported. Carrie is a longtime vegan who followed a vegetarian diet during her pregnancy. After giving birth to son Isaiah Michael Fisher, Underwood resumed her vegan diet.
Carrie joins a long list of celebrity vegans, who credit the plant-based diet for its weight loss and anti-aging health benefits. Singer Shania Twain she maintains her hot body at 49 with a low-carb vegetarian diet, yoga and Pilates workouts.
Underwood, who shot to fame after winning “American Idol” in 2005, has undergone a dramatic transformation during the past 10 years. The 5-foot-3 blonde beauty lost 20 pounds shortly after winning “American Idol,” and has since become a fitness fanatic who admits she obsessively counts calories, follows a vegan diet and exercises daily.
Carrie’s workouts typically include lots of high-intensity cardio exercise such as running on the treadmill and kickboxing, as well as strength training with five to 30 pound weights. “My favorite thing is cardio,” said Underwood. “Cardio makes me feel good, it makes me happy. There’s nothing like a good run.”
