Country superstar Carrie Underwood is married to Nashville Predators hockey center Mike Fisher. Usually Underwood receives most of the attention as an “American Idol” winner turned worldwide singing/acting/songwriting phenomenon, but a local Nashville television station turned the tables on the couple during a June 19th broadcast. The station announced that Fisher signed a new two-year $8.8 million contract with the Predators and flashed his smiling face across the screen. But below his image, the caption comically read, “Mike Fisher is married to someone famous”.
In good spirits, Fisher posted a screenshot of the incident on Instagram saying, “Had a good laugh at this!” Instead of getting angry about the situation however, Underwood also found it hilarious. The singer- who has sold over 15 million albums and has 7 Grammy Awards, 17 Billboard Music Awards, 11 Academy of Country Music Awards, and recently scored the 21st number one single of her career with “Little Toy Guns”- reposted Fisher’s Instagram screenshot with a caption that read: “First name: Someone. Last name: Famous.”
Fisher, 35, and Underwood, 32, who met backstage at one of her concerts in 2008, will celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary on July 10th. In February of 2015, the power celebrity couple welcomed their first child, adorable son Isaiah Michael Fisher.
Underwood is in the process of finishing up her newest album, which she is very excited about. In a call with country station WMZQ-FM/Washington, D.C., Underwood opened up about the music from her upcoming album, referring to it as “the most amazingest album ever.” There is no official release date for the record, but Underwood indicated that they are getting very close to putting the finishing touches on it.
The bubbly starlet recently garnered attention by showing off her rap skills onstage during a performance at the Big Barrel Country Music Festival in Dover, Delware. The country singer treated her elated audience to a dazzling rendition of Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again”, performing both Khalifa’s raps as well as Charlie Puth’s singing chorus. The crowd went wild as Underwood mixed in her own song “See You Again” from 2013, with the Khalifa’s Furious 7 Paul Walker tribute track by the same name.
Underwood has also been spending a lot of time lately as an Almay spokesperson, participating in multiple photo shoots and ad campaigns for various projects, the most recent being a new commercial for the beauty brand’s Intense i-Color shadow.
Fisher stared his career with the Ottawa Senators in 1999 where he played until 2011 (save the year of the NHL strike when he played overseas for EV Zug in the Swiss Nationalliga A) when he was traded to the Predators. In the off-season, Fisher gives back to the community by devoting his time to hockey camps in his Canada through Hockey Ministries International. Due to his philanthropic activities, Fisher was the winner of the 2012 NHL Foundation Player Award, which his given to the NHL player that best takes the core values of hockey — commitment, perseverance and teamwork — and demonstrates the off the ice to enrich the lives of people in the community.
