When I asked her if the rumors were true, she confirmed that they were. She told me, “yes, it is true I will be guest starring on Hawaii Five-0 as Keiko Hekekia. They changed the date due to the holidays though. I will be appearing on Hawaii Five-0 on Friday, December 11, 2015.”
“I love the fact that I grew up in Dayton, Ohio but I get the opportunity to play a local Hawaiian girl. I truly love the people and the culture of Hawaii. Oh, and the food! I can’t tell you how much poke and chicken laulau I eat when I’m there. Hawaii is such a melting pot of ethnicities, I feel very at home there” she continued.
When asked about her role on Hawaii Five-0 she told said, “I really enjoyed working with Daniel Dae Kim and Julie Benz. The Hawaiian spirit was even present while filming on set. Much different from when I film in LA.” When I asked her if she was excited about her role, she said “absolutely, I am even more excited that I will actually be in Honolulu when my episode airs kicking it with some locals and sipping a Mai Tai.”
So what are some of Candace Smith’s guilty pleasures right now? According to Candace, she loves Hawaiian Host chocolate, night swims in the ocean and Hawaiian music.
“I can’t get enough of Hawaiian Host chocolate covered macadamia nuts, night swims in the ocean and Hawaiian music. I’m not sure Hawaiian music is considered a guilty pleasure but all my friends make fun of the Pandora station I created which includes Ekolu, Three Plus and J Boog.”
We started to talk about the holidays. beauty examiner, Sarah Afshar mentioned to Candace that the holidays are approaching so we asked her what she was most excited about? We also asked her what her favorite thing was about the holidays? She said, “I will always treasure my traditional holidays back home with family in Dayton but its going to be pretty cool to spend Thanksgiving in Hawaii. My favorite thing about the holidays are good people and good food no matter where I am in the world. I truly enjoy cooking and sharing a meal with others. Throw in some good wine, music, stimulating conversation and laughter and I’m in Heaven.”
