California Chrome Fan Day at Kentucky’s Taylor Made Farms will give fans a chance to shake hands – and hooves – with the famous stable team and the racehorse. From Nashville, the event is only a few hours away.
California Chrome Fan Day will be held at Taylor Made Farms in beautiful Nicholasville, Kentucky on September 25, 26, and 27, 2015. The famous racehorse will be shown at 11 am and 2pm each day. The 11am showings will feature a meet & greet with California Chrome. The 2pm showings will feature a meet & greet with California Chrome plus a hayride tour of Taylor Made Farms.
The tour promises to be educational, fun, and exciting. “Chromies,” horse lovers, and racing enthusiasts will visit the barn where Pharoah, the 2015 Triple Crown Champion, was raised, see future stars at the mare & foal divisions, and the Stallion Complex with a parade of California Chrome.
California Chrome won the 2014 Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. Bred at California’s Harris Farms, he won the 2014 American Horse of the Year; the National Thoroughbred Racing Association named him the top-ranked three year old in the nation, and Chrome ranked fifth among American horses of all ages. The International Federation of Horse Racing Authorities ranked Chrome fifth in the world. His lineage includes Pulpit, 1955 Kentucky Derby winner Swaps, and Seattle Slew. He was named “California Chrome” because of his white markings, or “chrome.” During the Santa Anita Park’s 2014 San Felipe Stakes, track announcer Trevor Denman said the other horses in the race “would have to sprout wings to get to California Chrome.” (Source) When he hears cameras clicking, Chrome will stop, ears up, as if to pose. He will also peel back his upper lip as if smiling for the press. Some racing enthusiasts remark he is Secretariat reborn, due to his racing style and personality.
Taylor Made Farms is one of the most prestigious farms in Kentucky. Composed of over 1,600 acres, it is home to 87 horses that have made their mark on the racetrack; champions like American Pharoah, Buddha, and Unbridled’s Song are listed under Grade 1 Winners. “Since 1986, the farm has been owned solely by the Taylor Brothers, and has been built into one of the leading sales agencies in the world based upon the brothers’ philosophy of quality care for each individual horse and each individual customer (and) … cornerstones of horsemanship, customer service and innovation.” (Source)
