Wood’s Meat Processing in Sandpoint, Idaho is a family owned business that was started in 1973 as a part time endeavor. In 1978, on their beautiful North Idaho property, they built a new facility that met the USDA Federal Meat Inspection Specifications and opened full time.
When you buy your meat from Wood’s Meat Processing, you get locally raised quality beef. The Wood’s family takes pride in raising their livestock with great care while ensuring that the cattle:
- Never receive growth hormones.
- Never receive steroids.
- Are never fed antibiotics or animal by-products.
- Are always fed only real grains and grasses.
Beef can play an important role in overall nutrition. Lean protein provides the amino acids necessary for building and repairing muscle and body tissue. A 3-ounce serving of beef supplies nearly half of the protein a body needs daily. It is also an excellent source of:
- B12 – aids in function of the nervous system, body, blood cells and energy level.
- Niacin – stabilizes appetite, promotes healthy skin and energy.
- Selenium – protects from free radicals.
- Zinc – essential for immune system, building muscle, and cognitive health.
- B6 – helps keep a healthy nervous system, makes serotonin and norepinephrine that affect mood.
Local residents enjoy the convenient location, clean sanitary facility, and friendly employees who are helpful and efficient. Many hunters enjoy taking their wild game in for processing at Wood’s. One local hunter, Teresa Walden, who recently picked up her processed deer meat said that she is pleased with how quickly the meat is processed and ready for pick-up. Her favorite are the “smokies” that she has made from her wild game. Teresa and her husband also raise pigs and Wood’s handles their pork processing for them as well.
Wood’s offers meat bundles with beef and pork which makes selecting the right cuts for you and your family an easy task. Of course, there is always a helpful employee to assist in picking just the right bundle. For more information, hours and specials call them at (208)263-3077 or visit them at 482169 Highway 95 just north of Sandpoint. If you live in the Spokane area it is well worth the drive up north.
