The long awaited reveal of Bungie’s next expansion for ‘Destiny: The Taken King’ has been announced and times have been confirmed.
The developer confirmed in their weekly update for August 13, 2015, that they will broadcast weekly streaming events leading up to the official release of ‘The Taken King’. The livestreams will be held on Bungie’s Twitch channel for the next 3 weeks with all of the streams starting at 11 AM PDT.
August 19, 2015 will mark the beginning of their streams, with the theme “Destiny Year Two”. This segment will examine how ‘Destiny’ players experience in year one experience will affect the year two experiences.
This comes as a welcomed topic, especially with the recent announcement of changes to Destiny’s leveling system and with the alteration of light level changes regarding armor.
The MMO’s Executive Producer, Mark Noseworthy, along with Senior Design Lead, Tyson Green, and Community liaison, Cozmo, will hold this briefing.
The livestream on August 26, 2015 will discuss and show aspects of the newest areas in ‘The Taken King’, the Dreadnaught. The Dreadnaught is home to the Taken King, Oryx and has been described as “an inscrutable loot-filled fortress ” by Designer Ben Wommack in Bungie’s July 30, 2015 weekly update.
Every week, every day even, it will draw you back to fight through to its depths for loot and glory. Expect to find new Bounties, Patrol Missions, and Public Events both large and small—some of which you can even instigate yourself, if you can discover how.” – Ben Wommack, Bungie.net
Design lead, James Tsai and Fruit Nation Ambassador, Mr. Fruit will show off a new strike. Allowing players a feel of what to expect stepping into the new area, while giving a demonstration of what the Dreadnaught will have in store for year two.
The final livestream event will have Designers, Ben Wommack and Luke Smith as well as Cool Table Ambassador, Laced Up Lauren giving insight into the Dreadnaught with the stream themed ‘Court of Oryx’. This will be held on September 2, 2015.
In past livestreams with Bungie, they have managed to give away just enough to keep players amped for their new release. Three months ago in May 2015, Bungie streamed for the release of the second downloadable content ‘House of Wolves’. They did a reef reveal that introduced new npc’s to the world of ‘Destiny’, played a full-fledged ‘Trials of Osiris’ in the crucible, and played a few rounds of ‘Prison of Elders’.
However, much of the ‘House of Wolves’ DLC story remained a mystery for players until its release. It is doubtful that players will find out anymore about the ‘The Taken King’ story than they know now. But, players will be able to take a deeper look at new areas in the upcoming expansion.
‘Destiny: The Taken King’ will be released for PlayStation 3 and 4, as well as Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 15, 2015. It is available for preorder, with options of purchase for the Digital Download, Digital Collector’s Edition, physical Collector’s Edition, or the Legendary Edition.
