According to the Calgary Sun on Thursday, there is a two way tie for the lead after the first round of the 2015 Alberta Treasury Branch Financial Classic. Olin Browne Jr. of the United States and Julien Brun of France are tied for the lead at seven under par after they each shot a 63 at the Glen Eagles Golf Course in Cochrane, 15 minutes west of Calgary. The ATB Financial Classic is part of the PGA Tour Canada.
Browne Jr., of Jupiter, Florida, is the son of Olin Browne of Washington D.C., who has won three times on the PGA Tour (the 1998 Canon Greater Hartford Open, the 1999 Mastercard Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas and the 2005 Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston). However on Thursday it was Olin Browne Jr.’s time to shine as he went four under (birdie, birdie, eagle) on the final three holes of the back nine.
Brun meanwhile had a very clean round of golf as he did not have a bogey. Brun’s seven birdies came on the first, sixth, 11th, 14th, 15th, 17th and 18th holes.
There is a six way tie for third place. Cameron Peck, Michael Gligic, Jeff Rein, Danny Sahl, Joey Garber and Daniel Miericki are one shot back at -6.
There is a twelve way tie for ninth place. Zachary Edmondson, Ethan Tracy, Mike Van Sickle, Charlie Winegardner, Joe Panzeri, Talor Gooch, Cory Renfrew, Rak Cho, Chris Ross, Michael Buttacavoli, Brian Hughes and Matt Hill are at -5.
There is a fifteen way tie for 21st place. David McKenzie, Eugene Wong, Michael Schoolcraft, Drew Weaver, Riley Fleming, David Fink, Chris Worrell, David Pastore, Mackenzie Hughes, Ryan Thornton, Daniel McCarthy, Matt Hansen, Brant Peaper, Cory Whitsett and Chris Killmer are at -4.
