Brooke Baldwin is blasting “The View” hosts for bullying GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina saying that Fiorina’s face would have made a good Halloween costume that would give them nightmares. Women making fun of another woman’s looks in private is one thing, but bullying someone on air is tasteless.
As one reader comments under the October 29 Mediaite article “CNN’s Baldwin Calls Out ‘The View’ for Double Standard on Fiorina’s Looks,” the CNN anchor spoke for many other viewers when she called out the inappropriate behavior shown by “The View” hosts. ”Baldwin was right to do this. The comments made were unacceptable, and there should be repercussions – serious repercussions, too.”
Another reaction by a reader also points out “The View” hosts’ went too far. “These woman are poorly mannered. Notice each has had a facelift or other things, but Carly has had cancer. Oh that doesn’t matter does it? If she were Hillary, there would be no negative comments. These ‘has been’ women are a disgrace to even be called a woman!”
Brooke Baldwin, like many viewers, reacted with anger to Thursday’s “The View” debacle. Michelle Collins apparently found it amusing when Carly Fiorina admitted that she didn’t smile enough during the last debate and commented that “she looked demented. Her mouth did not downturn one time,” to which co-host Joy Behar laughed, “I wish it was a Halloween mask, I’d love that.” “Smiling Fiorina? Can you imagine? It’d give me nightmares,” Collins continued. Whoopie Goldberg chimed in to the laughter with justifying the use of the word “demented” saying “we have to stand up for the words we use.”
Can women be really that cruel to each other? CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin made it clear on “Newsroom” that there was nothing funny about the bullying of Carly Fiorina and that “The View” hosts went too far.
“I saw something today that angered me,” Baldwin said. “Not just as a journalist, but as a woman.” “We women can be the worst to one another. … I know these women on ‘The View’ get called out. So do I. I get it. This is the job we signed up for,” she added. “But still, we can do better than that.”
Brooke Baldwin says that “Listen, I love ‘The View’.” However, in regard to the latest behavior by “The View” hosts, the CNN anchor is pointing out that when Trump mocked Fiorina’s appearance, the show’s hosts called Trump’s behavior bullying and a wrong thing to do. But when “The View” hosts bully and make fun of Fiorina it is justifiable as talk show entertainment? As Brooke Baldwin calls out “The View” hosts: “But ladies, come on. Double standard much?”
