Ohio mother Brittany Pilkington called 911 when her 3-month-old baby Noah stopped breathing on Tuesday, just like she did in April when her 4-year-old son Gavin had stopped breathing and couldn’t be resuscitated. Gavin was Pilkington’s second child to die, as last summer, her 3-month old baby Niall also stopped breathing and couldn’t be revived.
This woman had three sons die in just a little over a year’s time, all who had stopped breathing for no apparent reason at all. According to PIX News 11 on August 19, the authorities believed her claim that it was something genetic within her family that caused her first two children to die, but they were not buying this when Noah was found dead in her home on Tuesday by the rescue crew. The baby was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, where he was pronounced dead.
This was too much of a pattern for the authorities in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Pilkington was questioned by detectives. It was about 3 a.m. on Tuesday when the 23-year-old mother called 911 to say her 3-month-old baby Noah had stopped breathing. The dispatcher asked the mother “how is his color.” Her reply was shocking, “I imagine he’s bluish by now, said the mother reporting a life and death situation.
Pilkington held fast to the excuse that genetics caused the boys to stop breathing, but the authorities weren’t taking this excuse again. PIX reports, “Authorities in the town about 25 miles northwest of Columbus may have previously accepted the death-by-natural-causes theory when the first two boys died. This time they weren’t buying it.”
With more questioning this time around the mother then made a shocking confession. She had suffocated all three boys with a blanket because her husband paid more attention to the boys than he did to her and their daughter. The children’s father, who is referred to as “Mr. Pilkington” is so upset that he is considering checking himself into a hospital, said his brother Jim Pilkington. It was Mr. Pilkington who found the first child dead when he came home from work one day last summer.
According to the Columbus Dispatch today, both baby Noah and the daughter had been in protective custody recently, but the two children were returned back home to the parents. The two kids were taken out of the home after the suspicious death of the second boy, Gavin, who died in April.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that the judge released Noah and his 4-year-old sister Haily back home “after a coroner recently determined that neither Gavin nor his brother, Niall, had died of suspicious causes. The kids went home just this past week after the coroner’s report noted that the “cause of their deaths couldn’t be determined.” After her macabre confession, Pilkington was arrested on three counts of murder.
