Brevard Zoo has announced their Summer event schedule for 2015 and, as always, it is chock full of creative ways to wile away the season.
This annual event draws thousands of visitors, many of them armed with all sorts of camera equipment. But even if photography isn’t what draws guests to the exhibit, it’s hard not to be fascinated by these graceful creatures.
This year’s butterfly exhibit is native to Florida and guests will be able to see see more than 10 different species at any given time. A visit to Butterfly Kingdom is included with regular Zoo admission and will be open daily from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m . in the Australasia loop.
For a sure way to cool down on those sweltering Florida Summer days, be sure to check out Arctic Blast Tuesdays. Every Tuesday during June and July, at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. the Zoo will drop giant ice cubes into the Paws On play lagoon. The ice melts quickly and wee ones shriek with glee as they try to grab the huge cubes. Parents can be seen on the sidelines with their cameras and a cool drink, a win-win situation for all.
Summer Saturday Nights
Summer days bring hot weather so Brevard Zoo offers the perfect solution for those who want to enjoy the Zoo at night, after things have cooled down a bit. During June and July, Summer Saturday Nights offers visitors a reduced admission of $6 starting at 5 p.m..There will be live musical entertainment from 6 – 8:30 p.m. and a special animal encounter at 7 p.m. Most of the Zoo animals are on exhibit until dusk, but not all are able to stay awake that long, including the birds in the aviary.
Guests may go kayaking, ride the train, feed the giraffes, and visit the Paws On water play area. The Petting Zone and Butterfly exhibit in Australasia are closed in the evening. The fun lasts until the Zoo closes at 9 p.m. The Summer Saturday Night music schedule is as follows:
