There are many things that Bret Michaels is. Bret Michaels is an American singer-songwriter, musician, actor, director, screenwriter, producer and a reality television personality. But the biggest thing that Bret Michaels is, Bret is a true gentleman. He never forgets his roots, family, friends and of course his love for music.
Bret Michaels rocked the stage at The Hudson Gardens And Event Center Saturday night, August 15, 2015 and proved that while “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”, the roses at The Hudson Gardens And Event Center did not stick anyone. In fact, the roses were rockin’ right along with the crowd. The weather threatened, but that is all it did. Bret Michaels stated “As long as the fans are here, the weather can do whatever it wants. It can rain, it can snow, it can do whatever the Colorado weather does but it ain’t moving me off this stage”.
In the couple of times that Bret Michaels has appeared at The Hudson Gardens And Event Center, he has become one of the favorites. From the young rockers who were in the crowd – one-year-old Sammy to the thousands of older fans, this show was stupendous.
If this is your first concert at The Hudson Gardens And Event Center your experience had to be excellent. If this was not your first concert at the venue, then you know you are in for a great evening. From the moment you arrive at The Hudson Gardens And Event Center, the concert atmosphere is the best. It’s like, once you enter the venue all of your troubles suddenly don’t matter anymore, and you’re living in the moment. You walk in, band tee’s everywhere; everyone in the audience including yourself are waiting for the band to come out. Your hearts racing so fast and you can’t sit still. Adrenaline’s pumping hard and as soon as you hear the first notes of the opening song and you recognize it immediately. Everyone around you erupts into screams and applause, and for the time the band is playing, you sing along to every song the band plays. And our throat might be a little sore Sunday morning from singing and your body will be tired from the dancing, but in the end it’s all worth it and you would gladly do it all again. And as Bret Michaels said last night, he would love to make this great venue an annual event.
Bret Michaels had an awesome line up as well. The show opened with the first song Bret Michaels wrote for the band Poison “Talk Dirty to Me”. Keeping with Poison the second song was “Looked What The Cat Dragged In” which was a song that when first released did not do so well. But as radio stations continued to play the song, it soon became a favorite and moved to the No.3 spot on the Billboard 200 in 1987. The third song by Bret Michaels was “Riding Against The Wind” which was on his 2010 album “Custom Built”.
As the Examiner spoke with the crowd, we heard from several audience members as to what they were hoping to hear. We first spoke with the people who put their heart and soul into the summer lineups with The Hudson Gardens And Event Center by speaking with the Director Rich and the Concert and Special Events Manger Kristi Manz have the same favorite song “Talk Dirty To Me”. Concert and Special Events Coordinator with The Hudson Gardens and Event Center Callie Brown’s favorite song is “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”. We then went into the crowd and spoke with fans and we first heard from Frank Mango and Kathy Darby who has been front row audience members for years. Frank’s song is “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and his lovely wife Kathy Darby chooses “Talk Dirty To Me”. Keeping in the front row we met Dave Rees and “Riding Against The Wind” strikes him as his favorite. Ingrid Brown lists hers as “Unskinny Bop”. Matthew Clauss and his five-year-old-daughter agree to disagree on songs. While Matthew states his as “Riding Against The Wind”, his daughter Kristen Moon chooses “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”. We then went midway into the crowd and found more mixed emotions on songs. Alex Cross reported his is “Nothin’ But A Good Time” and Crystal Stellar chose “Look What The Cat Dragged In”. Rounding out the audience was John Braiden with “Rock In My Country”
Yes The Hudson Gardens And Event Center rocked the night away with Bret Michaels and his band and the night could not have been any better. Bret offered people the chance for a meet and greet, rocked the stage, had The Hudson Gardens And Event Center cheering, screaming and dancing. The gentlemen of rock put on an A-1 show and yes they are all truly gentlemen and are some of the best in rock.
