Getting bored with your summer gear already? In the way of summer staples, t-shirts are a must have but let’s be honest. You can really only have so many different kinds and there are only so many ways you can wear them before they become tired and unwanted wardrobe staples. Luckily though, you can revamp your wardrobe and breathe new life into your t-shirts by just wearing them in totally different and unexpected ways. Not only will you learn to love your t-shirts again, it’ll feel and look like you spent money when you didn’t!
Monochromatic + girly: Take your favorite black or white graphic tee and pair it the same color skinnies and pumps for a head to toe chic look that’s unexpected when you think of a t-shirt. Reserve color for your face, either your lips or face and add a pop of texture in the form of an edgy bag with metallic or studded details.
Jeans and a tee? Of course!: Yes, it sounds simplistic at best, but when it comes to rocking boyfriend jeans and a tee, kick it up a notch by adding some metallics to it. Whether they’re metallic shoes, a studded bag or edgy jewelry, a few unexpected pieces is all you need to take this outfit from casual to rocking in seconds.
Floral it up: You probably own a floral skirt or two so instead of pairing up your favorite graphic tee with something ordinary like jeans or shorts, opt for a floral skirt instead. Mot just a mini skater skirt either. Try different lengths like a midi or thigh high length for a quirky take on a vintage vibe. Pair up with wedges and earthy tonal jewelry for a new take on the boho trend.
Speaking of skirts: Actually when you think about it, you can add some much need funkiness to any skirt you own. Pair up a muscle tee with a flowing bold colored maxi skirt or a lacy pencil skirt and floral blazer with a fitted graphic tee or even a neutral midi skirt with a bold patterned graphic tee. It doesn’t stop there though. For a cool and fun look consider pairing up a sequin skirt with a graphic tee and a blazer or cardigan. The lengths and styles of skirts are limitless so why should the way you pair them up with tees not be as well?
A suit and a tee…why not? There’s no hard fast written fashion rule that says that you absolutely have to wear a button up oxford or blouse with a suit. As a matter of fact if you’re wearing a pant suit that’s a bright bold color or a wonderfully bold print, it’s almost screaming and begging to be paired with a tee. Make sure that your pant suit is a two piece (pant and jacket) instead of separates for a clean and put together look.
Make it luxe: Just because your t-shirt is probably made of a simple fabric like cotton, doesn’t mean that it isn’t just screaming to be elevated to a luxe level. Without having to go out and spend a fortune on a leather tee or a cashmere tee, instead pair up your favorite graphic tee with a luxurious item like leather, faux fur and even tulle. By doing this you can even wear a graphic tee to a black tie event. That is of course as long as it’s a creative black tie event. You wouldn’t just wear a graphic tee to a wedding so err on the safe side….sometimes!
