The organizers of Phoenix Comicon and Phoenix Fan Fest have found a new home where the directors and volunteers can work in a spacious environment that promises to bring the public to an even greater convention experience.
Recently they opened the doors and invited folks in to see their new lobby, offices, and meeting rooms. Convention Director, Matt Solberg, said there isn’t anything he doesn’t love about putting these events together each year. “It’s when I am out there on the floor and seeing everyone having a good time—it is all worth it. Just seeing the people rushing to panels, shopping for items on the sales floor, wearing costumes—then I know all the hours and work was worth it!”
Solberg IS PHX Comiccon. His vision of a comic book convention in 2002 has grown from 432 guests to over 75,200 participants in 2015. “We strive to make the event better each year.” The upcoming PHX Fan Fest (December 4-6, 2015) is a pop culture and comic convention highlighting comics, actors, costuming, and family and kid events.
Joe Boudrie, Director of Programming says his favorite part of the events is “seeing it come to life” and even with all the work that goes into organizing the time frames for guest panels, meet and greets for top line up guests, he is always a little sad on Sunday afternoon when it is time to shut down.
The Director of Marketing, Jullian Squires, is a gal who must multi-task several aspects of marketing including the program book, internet pages, and more. She works closely with the volunteers and is proud of the volunteer staff that returns each year to assist her. “Educating my volunteers is important to make the event go smooth—we are always a great team.”
Stephanie Munoz, Marketing Manager, loves her job! They all love their jobs at PHX Comicon/PHX Fan Fest. Munoz says she is on the go almost 24/7 answering phone calls, emails, and keeping up the social media pages. “I have my phone or laptop with me and I am right on it.” She believes the new office will keep the staff working together with greater communication. “It is fantastic to have us all working at one location and learning what each other’s strengths are”
Don’t forget PHX Fan Fest is happening December 4-6, 2015 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Tickets start at $10.00. Get your TICKETS here.
