Bobbi Kristina Brown is “healing” through prayer, claims her aunt Leolah Brown. Leolah’s optimistic health update contradicted recent statements made by Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother, Cissy Houston, who said Bobbi’s health has not improved at all.
In a Facebook post June 3 via AJC, Leolah, the sister of singer Bobby Brown, thanked fans for their prayers, which she claims are “healing” Bobbi Kristina. Bobbi Kristina, 22, remains unresponsive after suffering irreversible brain damage in January.
“We are allowing her to just continue healing in God’s Grace and Mercy,” Leolah wrote. “You have no idea how much my brother Bobby and Bobbi Kriss are grateful and appreciate your kind words and prayers! Let us keep our hearts and minds on Bobbi Kristina’s complete healing! May The Peace Of God Be With You.”
Bobby Brown’s camp and Cissy Houston’s camp have made conflicting statements about the status of Bobbi Kristina’s health. Bobbi Kristina lies unconscious on life support, which includes a ventilator and feeding tube, Celebrity Health & Fitness reported.
While the Brown family suggested Bobbi Kristina had briefly regained consciousness, Cissy’s family denied Bobbi ever woke up after suffering irreversible brain damage.
“She’s the same, she’s not progressing at all,” said Houston, 81. “There’s still not a great deal of hope.”
Cissy, the mother of the late Whitney Houston, said she’s praying Bobbi will recover, but said she’ll be at peace if Bobbi dies.
Bobby Brown Will ‘Never, Ever’ Take Off Bobbi Kristina’s Life Support
Meanwhile, sources said Bobby Brown has dug in his heels and will “never, ever” turn off Bobbi Kristina’s life support as long as she’s still breathing.
“Don’t believe any reports that Bobby is going to take her off life support,” said a Brown family source. “He’s never going to do that. I don’t think he’ll ever go there. If there’s a 2% chance, a 1% chance, or a 0.1% chance, he will keep hope alive.”
In May, Cissy’s daughter-in-law, Pat Houston, and former son-in-law, Bobby Brown, were named co-guardians of Bobbi Kristina by a Georgia judge.
Pat, the wife of Cissy’s son Gary Houston, and Bobby Brown are jointly responsible for Bobbi Kristina’s medical care and needs. Until the ruling, Bobby Brown was solely in charge of making medical decisions regarding his daughter.
When Whitney Houston died in 2012, she left her $20 million estate to Bobbi Kristina, her only child. Whitney’s will stipulated that if Bobbi Kristina died, the estate would pass to her mom, Cissy, her brother Gary Houston and his wife, Pat. Bobby Brown, who divorced Whitney Houston in 2007, gets nothing from Bobbi Kristina’s estate.
Bobbi Kristina, 22, is out of her medically induced coma but has irreversible brain damage and is unresponsive. While Bobbi may be able to live a long life despite the extensive brain damage, experts say a full recovery is impossible.
