Bobbi Kristina’s funeral arrangements have been finalized and some interesting and unusual new details have emerged. Funeral ceremonies will be held in two states, according to Extra TV on July 28. The first ceremony will be held Saturday in Atlanta where most of Bobbi Kristina’s personal friends and the relatives on her father’s side of the family live. A second ceremony will take place in New Jersey prior to her burial early next week.
As to be expected, given their long history of family feuds, the Brown family and the Houston family disagree on what type of funeral they want Bobby Kristina should have, according to Hollywood Life on July 28. The Houstons want a themed memorial representative of the prom Bobbi Kristina never attended, and the Sweet 16 party she never had. But Bobby Brown and the rest of the Brown family disagree with this concept on the grounds that a funeral with a party-like atmosphere is disrespectful. However, the Houstons insist on a gala ceremony which they are calling a “Sweet 16 Celebration of Life.” It remains to be see whose wishes will prevail.
Longtime family friend Tyler Perry, who is helping Pat Houston and her husband Gary (Whitney Houston’s half-brother) with the funeral arrangements, is doing his best to maintain peace between the two families. He reportedly offered to “take care of everything” related to the funeral, which many understand to mean that he will foot the entire bill. Tyler will be making his private plane available so Bobbi Kristina’s family can transport her body to the burial site in New Jersey where a second funeral ceremony is scheduled to take place. Some of Whitney Houston’s former bodyguards have flown to Altanta to help transport the body. According to CeleBuzz.com on July 29, there is a list of celebrity guests which Pat Houston is keeping a closely guarded secret. She has requested that they rsvp within 24 hours.
One thing both sides of the family seem to agree on is that Bobbi Kristina’s funeral will not be broadcast or live-streamed as Whitney Houston’s funeral was three years ago. A source close to the family says they don’t want to make this tragedy more of a spectacle than it has already become.
The first funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at the St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, a suburb of Atlanta. It’s interesting to note that the original date for this service was July 30, which coincidentally is the same date cited on the fake Bobbi Kristina funeral video that swept the Internet by storm last week. According to Us magazine on July 29, the date had to be rescheduled to Aug. 1, to accommodate certain family members who otherwise would have been unable to attend.
Celebuzz.com reports that a second memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug 3, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark NJ. This will allow Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother, Cissy Houston who has been unable to travel for health reasons, to say her last goodbye. Afterward, Bobbi Kristina will be laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield NJ where Whitney Houston and her father John Russell Houston are buried. As of yesterday, news vans and other media have already started to gather at the heavily guarded scene.
